I wish they would stop with the cartoon Link.

Another Zelda game that doesn't appeal to me at all.

Nintendo should take some lessons from Capcom.

And pump out title after title for the same series endlessly? Oh wait, nevermind, Nintendo does that and the games are still actually somewhat interesting.

Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me much.

At least some kind of plane, at least...

I'm tired of these motherfuckin' ropes on this motherfuckin' plane!

I'm still gonna get this, and if it's a good idea, whoo. But I don't like the toon link series as much as the others

I'm talking about going back to Zelda's roots. Making a new Zelda game in the 8-bit style like Mega Man 9. I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I think the Zelda series has went down hill after the N64 era. They keep making these shitty Zelda games.

And I can't understand why they find this cartoon-style so appealing. I can't stand it.

Give me A Link to the Past anyday.

I think they're all good in their own ways. I loved A Link to the Past, don't get me wrong, but my favorite game is actually Wind Waker. That is promptly followed by A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.

I liked Twilight Princess, but just never as much as Wind Waker. It just felt less original, even though all of the games have used the same general formula. I think it was the items partially... meh. I did, however, like the special sword moves that you could find. And I liked Phantom Hourglass, but the forcing us to use touch-screen controls sucked.

Overall, I hope this is good. At it's worst, it will be a solid game, but I hope they don't overdo the inclusion of the train and that they give us some more control options.

Not to mention that the cartoon style was an attempt to go back to their roots. It was supposed to feel more like the style of the older games. I mean just because a game isn't 8vit styled doesn't mean it wasn't an attempt to go back to a game series' roots. It's just a little more subtle.

I find this pretty funny, because their current style is just an extension of the old style. Even in A Link to the Past you'll find lots of cartoony graphics, like the explosions and the reactions to enemies before they fall in pits. It is just art evolution.

What I'm trying to say is that kid cartoon-Link looks pathetic. And I'm no fan of any cell shading either.

They should use older Link, which in my opinion is the way Link should look. And no cell shading.

Stark, you may say that ALTTP has cartoony graphics, but I didn't see it as that. I saw it as realism just shrunk down.

Older Link looks small in ALTTP (that is how they represent him), but it doesn't mean he is a pathetic-looking cell shaded kid. In ALTTP, we know Link is an adult, but in videogame form he looks small. In this new style, they are actually representing Link as a kid. (Link is not a kid. He is an adult). They need to ditch that style. It's awful.

I am required by law to link this.

Also, RetroRain: ALTTP does so have cartoony graphics. Compare it to, say... Clock Tower, which was drawn pretty damn realistically if I remember correctly. On the same system, with the same limitations.

Also, Stark's "falling into pits" argument is pretty good in that respect.

I suppose, to keep it simple, I do not like this new art style they have going on for Zelda.

I think it's quite fitting a style for the handhelds.

The Wind Waker has no such excuse, unfortunately. I think the main problem is that they apparently based the new sprites on TWW, if I remember correctly.

In ALTTP, we know Link is an adult, but in videogame form he looks small. In this new style, they are actually representing Link as a kid. (Link is not a kid. He is an adult).
The GBA version gave him young Link's voice from Ocarina of Time.
Guards in the game specifically tell him that he can stay out late "when you're grown up".
Other characters call him a kid ("You look strong for a kid. How much can you lift?", "I'll bet you can't wait until you are old enough to use a sword!", "Hey kid! You can open a chest after paying Rupees!").
Melee's trophy for Young Link specifically states that he was a young boy in the original Zelda and most later games.

So, no. We don't know he's an adult. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Link looks retarded in WW & PH. I don't know why Nintendo don't jus' ask Capcom to carry on the Zelda series as they are far better at it. I loved Minish. PH changed to much of the Zelda formula and feels worse for it. Different graphics, Hud, dugeon map etc. It feels like a game thats had the Zelda licence tacked on to it at the last minuite.

I wonder if the train can hop......

Personally, I loved Wind Waker and wish there were more that played like that. I do, however, agree that they need to stick to the original formula. I wasn't a huge fan of Phantom Hourglass and think they could keep the style as long as they give you the normal playing mechanics! I don't agree that Nintendo should hand over the franchise. They should stop making games relating to their great old franchises and making them revolve solely around gimmicks like motion control, touch control, and the DS mic.

I loved the idea of sailing and looking for uncharted islands, but Phantom Hourglass managed to bugger that up by not giving you enough to find and the speed of the boat could do with kicking up a notch, it took far too long to get from A to B. Hopefully the train will go faster.

I don't think Nintendo have done a TRUE Zelda game since the N64, although I haven't had chance to play Twilight Princess yet and that looks good. Capcom seem to have no problems, They've given us 2 GBC games (Seasons and Ages) and Minish Cap.

I agree with most things said here. I do kinda like the train idea. It gives the world a nice vast-ness without having to actually model out a huge world, which makes sense for something that's not going to be huge budget.

One thing I did notice, though, was the graphics in the outdoors areas look MISERABLE. Hell, I'd prefer some really well done 2D over that blocky, jagged mess. You can even see the vertexes that make up the sky sphere really easily, which I think just looks bad, even if it's intended or not.
