Have you seen this yet?

I love the train idea, it's cute. I just hope this game has some sort of "exploring on foot" element. (besides in dungeons) I dunno, I'm just in the mood
I guess.

Also, it's great they want to try new ideas, but I really think it would be better to keep the orginal gameplay style involved somehow, you know?; and try
new story ideas. Like maybe kill Link at the very end and everyone be all.... WTF! Ha. Ok, that was a joke.

But most of all! I want to level up my Sword, Life, and Magic again! Please?

EDIT: What are your feelings about this new Zelda? Or about this direction Nintendo is taking?

Ooh, would you look at that. It looks like they're implementing a feature used in the multiplayer version.

I'll be looking pretty forward to it. It looks pretty much like the Phantom Hourglass but with different items and more features.

Talk about derailing the series. I really hope that Nintendo gets back on track with the sequel, or even better, decides not to release this trainwreck of an idea. Seriously. I'm afreight that Nintendo's only (and admittedly loco) motive behind this game is to make their hardcore fans steam in anger.

...

Train puns aside, this looks like it could be pretty fun twist, and it's one step closer to the "steampunk" Zelda "everyone" claims to want.

This is a sick perversion of video games.

Nintendo should know better than this.

"He's then pitted against a huge crab-like creature in what appears to be an epic boss battle."
The popularity of the Ancient Japanese setting among game designers appears to be unchangedly high...

4chan /v/ is overflowing with "MULTI-TRACK DRIFTING1!!1!!" jokes. In the end, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the trains turned out to be a minor plot element for traveling between distant cities or something at most.
(But then, could the title be hinting at more?)

The gameplay itself looks nice, but *trains* in a Zelda game is weird. I feel that Nintendo is losing ideas for its portables ever since Minish Cap. It's too different from the usual Zelda game for me to pick up and play.

I guess the Toon Link world is turning out to be an entirely different franchise than the regular Zelda world.

Why add such a paltry amount of technology to the Zelda world? They might as well just skip to an FFVII-style dystopian future and get it over with, b/c that's where it's leading.

to be fair the train thing is pretty clearly just a more concise version of Phantom Hourglass' sailing. The gameplay of it is clearly exactly the same. And I don't know about you but I'm much more concerned with gameplay than trivial plot details.

Zelda entering the industrial age.

I look forward to the sequel where they use things from the atomic age. A cold war with a magical nuclear weapon?

Or the Information Age, where Link is surfing on the internet.

I mean really? They're headed for that by introducing a piece of technology from the early 1800's? I honestly doubt that the fact that Link is riding around in a little train is going to change the series that much. I'd say that's being a little drastic...
If I had a DS I'd probably snag the title up. It seems like the Toon Link series of games is going more towards "Huge space with important areas scattered far from each other, and some fancy way of getting around between them" which is kind of cool. I mean it's sort of a different way of handling a Zelda game, where normally you're on foot or on horseback, actually walking from place to place. It's like a more streamlined approach. I don't mind it though, the games seem interesting enough.

Just heard of this yesterday, and for pretty much the first time for the Zelda series, I am not too pleased. Trains? Come on, people. This is swords and stuff. Why not just add GUNS, because they were invented way before trains. Also, this looks like another Wind Waker game (which is disappointing, I wanted a OOT-like game), but why is there such a giant amount of land? The world is supposed to be underwater. Consistency, Nintendo! CONSISTENCY.

But am I going to get it? Fuck yeah, It's Zelda.

I love the train, but one thing that brings me down, is that the game will
probably, most likely be based around this new idea.

If they keep the same Zelda formula, but ADD this in for a fun optional
mode of transportation, I will be happy.

It's sort of like with WW and PH. I really liked those games, but they would've
been a whole lot better if they weren't all about sailing.

I want to use my feet again! If I get tired, I'll ride your train, Nintendo, but
give me options!

I loved Wind Waker, and the sailing was kinda part of that It was the game that got me into the Zelda series haha

And I thought PH was ok, but not spectacular. I think it would have been better if Nintendo didn't go all "HEY GUYS!!! DID YOU REMEMBER THIS THING HAD A TOUCH SCREEN?!?! IT'S THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN PLAY THIS, EVEN THOUGH MOST OF YOU HAVE PROBABLY LOST THEIR STYLUSES MULTIPLE TIMES AND GENERALLY PREFER USING THE BUTTONS!!!" I would have loved the game if you could have moved and all that with the buttons, but use the touch screen for the cool stuff that it was used for, like drawing the path for your boomerang.

And this looks good so far, and I like the train, but I agree with Ice Penguin, I hope you don't have to use it, though we probably will, judging from the title. And I hope that we are given more options than just the touch screen for movement and fighting.

It's just a train. It's not like it's going to make the game completely different.

I'd imagine if they used a horse instead of a train, all the "hardcore" fans would fall over heels just to play the game. But when they add trains, it becomes unconsistant and you end up getting people like Marzen thinking that games should add things in relation to the periods that which they were invented.

So a friend of mine brought up an interesting point last night. Why wasn't there as much of an outcry about how Link had a steam boat in Phantom Hourglass? I mean it's a steam engine, you know, like what trains have.

Too be completely fair, the steam engine was made in.. 120 AD I think? It took 1700 years for it to be combined with the railway though

Yeah, but I mean it's still not like really that much more advanced than a steam boat. I mean the steam boat (not just the engine) was a product of the 1700's. So I mean it's really only a 100 year difference between the two.
