Okay. I recently ordered Earthlink High Speed Internet and they contacted my local Time Warner Cable office to setup installation (because Earthlink and TWC work together for cable internet.) Anyways I paid for it and got it all hooked up, no problems with anything, runs pretty close to the advertised speed: about 6800kbps down, 350kbps up. Of course now they (TWC) send me this letter. Apparently because my parents had TWC Cable Service before and hadn't paid the bill at the same address we live at now (this was years ago), resulting in cancellation, I either have to pay their bill or get my service cancelled. I still live with my parents, and can't move out at the moment, but need fast internet for school (and gaming) but I have to pay $270 I don't fucking owe them to have service for myself and myself only. My parents don't use the internet all that much anyways, and they have clearwire when they do. THEY DON'T EVEN FUCKING USE EARTHLINK/ROADRUNNER AT ALL. But I have to pay their bill to continue my service unless I move out and prove to TWC I don't live with them. That is seriously fucked up. Isn't there anything I can do about this?

Have you talked to your parents about splitting the bill? If so, what did they say?

I can see both sides to the story... They do this to prevent loopholes where if someone were to not pay their bill, someone else can just bypass the late fees and unpaid service with someone else's name. On the other hand, where a seemingly legitimate case occurs such as this case appears to be, it does seem to be a downer. It isn't really that fair at all to you.

Really, the only suggestion I have is to have your parents pay their fucking bill and remind them that they have a child that's more responsible than they are. You can use their ego to your advantage and say "You wouldn't want your son to show you up, do you?" or something like "Why am I the one having to show you an example? Shouldn't it be the other way around?"

...or, "ur doin it wrong"

Well as far as my parents paying it goes... not a chance. They said they don't have the money or they would pay it, which is true. My Mom recently lost her job and extra money is scarce at the moment, causing me to have to help out financially as it is, and I don't make that much at McDonalds to start with. Maybe I can work something out, I doubt it though. I'll probably be stuck having to deal with clearwire's shitty service for a while until I can get this straightened out.
