Lookin' nice there. I'm suggesting on adding a sidekick, as most stereotypical platformers have a sidekick in them. Most likely the generic "floating object" sidekick, like Tippi from Super Paper Mario or something.

It's on SDL, but the platform engine logic itself is fairly cross-platform. Making a non-smoothed screenshot would require recompiling, which I can't do without my external HD so you'd have to wait until tomorrow.
Sidekicks sound like a nice concept, and I think something free-floating would be the best choice here where difficulty is concerned.
