Put a non-existent HTML tag in between the : and the S, such as <z>.

So if you type :<z>S, it will come out as :S, not

Well, I already knew about Sierpinski's Triangle, but I haven't made any progress with any info on that. I also know that a piece of the triforce looks like the Delta symbol, and if I remember correctly the name Zelda was derived from Delta.

Its all a bunch of speculation anyways...

Zelda was taken from Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, also known as that guy who wrote The Great Gatsby.

I seriously doubt the name originated from the letter. It'd be like saying Sid came from Z ("zed" in a lot of places).

I'm... a bit of a trivia person.

ah, I couldn't really remember where I read that from anyway.

Still no reply from Okibi...and I noticed on the main contest page the final date is now 4/5.

We'll probably never get to see this ROM now..

Edit: Just realized that the story of the Hojo symbol is very similar to Valoo in The Wind Waker (directly quoted from the game script):

"When a Rito reaches adulthood, he or she journeys to the top of Dragon Roost to receive a scale from the great dragon. It is this scale that enables the Rito to grow his or her wings."

Happy Birthday, me!

Past that, we're pretty much dead until he decides to inform us if we have to (suprise) enter in more crap into the address bar, or if he gives you the answer once you figure it out...

Ok, so Okibi wrote this hint in the BSZelda forums earlier today:

"Hmm...

Need another hint? Again, only for the BS Zelda visitors!

If you've managed to extract the hint from the last post I made here, then you should have 3 things to guide you.

If that second item is something you don't understand, it involves the relation to something, or someones. It's kind of a three-way connection.

So... if you go the clue in that third hint, what in the world could that 3rd portion be referring 2?

I'll give you another hint. Rated O has something about 6. Can you find it?

-okibi"

I've noticed that near everything Okibi writes is spellchecked or something.
Notice his typos in that new post...
"So... if you go the clue..."
Go was supposed to be got.

First part: Go.

"...3rd portion be referring 2?"

2 was supposed to be To.

Combined: Go to.

And I am sure the next part contains the end somehow, just not a typo or something.

Maybe I am just thinking way too hard...

Hi,
I suppose everyone have seen the source of the step 2 html page, but just in case :

< p align=justify>
< b>Congratulations! You completed step 2!< /b>
< /p>
You are one of the few who figured out step 2 in the March 2007 Project Zero contest! All you get on this page is a hint, another question, and a picture.< br />
< br />
You're hint is this... < font color="#FFFFFF">hidden in the symbol< /font>< br />
< br />
Here is your question:< br />
< b>So you knew about the rumors of the Triforce in Ocarina of Time? Maybe not, but you knew where the Triforce was kept. Did you know the triforce has a hidden meaning that is derived from an ancient clan? Tell me about this.< br />
< br />

< img src="pzmarch07.jpg" alt="Project Zero March 2007 Step 3">

The text "hidden in the symbol" has the same color as the background (but you can see it if you select it).
The alternate text for img is "Project Zero March 2007 Step 3", but I do not know if it is a kind of hint .
(I was wondering if the text should be "your hint is this" instead of "you're hint is this" (I am not an english native speaker))
I hope someone will find how to acces step 3.
Regards

okibi

It's good to see that you all are participating and not just shooting flames! Seriously, the flames get old.

Anyway, someone emailed me a link to this board so I figured I'd check it out.

What step are you guys on? Step 2?

Did you notice how the BS Zelda forums got hints? Why not you guys?

Here's a hint for you...

If you saw the symbol on step 2, then you probably looked up the story behind the Hojo clan from Japan. The tale is about a dragon who gave three scales (roughly). Three scales are three parts of the triforce, hidden in the picture are 3 3's. The 3 3's relate to the dragons... Valoo, who is supposed (maybe) related to Volvagia, who was once in a game mistakenly called Barba, from Zelda 2. Three dragons, three scales, what else is 3 related to the final dragon... Barba...

That's right, in Zelda 2 he was the boss of Palace 6, which is called ***.

Which leads us to ***.ratedo.com

Next step. Have fun.

NOTE: The End Date is NOT an actual end date, but a hint date. Everyone who finished step 3 by that date gets an extra FINAL hint. Can you do it?

Also, forgot to mention something.

Regarding sharing hints and steps...

Feel free!

But, do you really want to help other people win?

I know that whoever wins will probably share the rom, but I'd like to know that I won it, not I couldn't figure it out but was given it. Guess that's just me.

NOTE: No, there is no hint to step 4 in this post... or is there?

What they mean? Um, all I know is Error and Bug (who got translated as "Bagu") were characters from Zelda II who's names obviously represented programing glitches. And the picture is....Zelda? I don't know. This is getting stupid now ;x

Sometimes, winning an event as a whole is greater than winning an event by yourself. Teamwork is good.

I'm also subtly amused at the "end date" being my 19th birthday (April 5, 1988).

My head hurts..

I can only say that I was somewhat on track...but I was certain the game involved would be Wind Waker because of the in game quote related to Valoo.

I don't think there was any way I would've related it to Barba, because there's too many dragons to begin with.

Gleeok, known to have multiple heads and could be related to the number 3.

Trinexx, which is a three headed dragon which name also implies 3.

Also, the clue of 3s pointing to Three Eye Rock could've easily fit in with my idea of it pointing to the Triangle Islands in Wind Waker, because there's 3 of them, and they're related to the Triforce picture. So that could very well be pointing to the Tower of the Gods.

Puzzles aren't fun if the clues aren't carefully crafted and end up fitting multiple scenarios...

I'm error is that guy in zelda II

That zelda picture I think it's either from minish cap or wind waker...

"feel free!"
The wind is sometimes related to being free.

Zelda 2 is called "The adventure of link". Link has the triforce of courage, which is farore, and farore controls the wind.

So I thing it has to be related with farore, the wind, or the triforce of courage.

But that doesn't make sense with the point of okibi's second post, which talks about sharing the rom or not and helping....

or maybe my post is completely wrong... I make things more complex than what they really are...

EDIT: wait... this could be talking about link's awakening, becouse of the wind fish (...), the zelda picture might refer to the fact that zelda isn't in the game, and some people consider this game as a 2nd part of a link to the past, making it be related to the quote from zelda 2.
But what we have to do with link's awakening?

Error is a character in Zelda II, originally called Errol, but due to Engrish, got mistranslated. The picture is from Minish Cap, when Zelda wins the Shield for Link at the Minish Fair. It's commented as being small and a bit embarrassing.
Hope that helps anything.

My reasoning is that maybe I alone can't win it, but if I share what I find out, maybe it'll help someone else figure something else out that I wouldn't have. Kinda like a team.

Also, I tend to want to avoid being greedy.

Edit: The meaning of the quote is just the guy telling his name. Error states his name because later on, someone says "Error in (some town) knows about (some thing)", and hey, we already know some guy who said something goofy in (some town), so I guess he was saying his name! You know, that kind of thing.

And the picture is Zelda, but it must've come from one of the later games, because of the art style. It appears to have come specifically from Minish Cap, which technically is the "beginning" of the legend of Zelda.

So let's see how we can link the two together...

Zelda is a mistake.
Zelda makes mistakes.
It's a mistake that Zelda is in Minish Cap.
Zelda mistakenly does something in Minish Cap.
Zelda mistakenly causes havok to happen for the first time in Minish Cap.
Zelda isn't supposed to do something.
blah, there's just too many ways.

No. He was originaly called Error. Erraa, if you want to split hairs, in the Japanese version. He was supposed to correspond to Baggu, aka Bug (Bug and Error), only Bagu was not translated as such

Let me just say this first off.

I encourage everyone to work together. Team work is really the best way to solve this kind of puzzle, much like the GAME 0VER contest Rated O had a few months ago. That one ended up taking almost 4 months to solve.

That wasn't meant to discourage anyone! You guys (and gals?) are doing much better in this contest than they did, so congrats!

To be completely honest, this step isn't hard, just a test to see who follows instructions.

Someone is almost right, just missing 2 parts.

HINT: What step are you on and what did I say last?

By the way, someone is on step 5! Has been for over a week.
