Not that I'm defending okibi, but perhaps he is just some sadistic bastard that feeds off the pain of others, thus the motivation (or rather the claim) of not "needing" to prove himself.

Hey, remember what I said about making dumb posts in here?

That it earns you a ban?

Now that we're clear on that, the next one really will be given a good ol' 3-day.

Why doesn't Okibi give us a screenshot, like a nice action shot or something--no still title screens or the like. I'm sure that'll settle some dust.

or can he
That can be easily faked? Maybe if he made an informative page like that SMB2 one, and I really don't see why it would kill him to do so....=\

that was the idea ._.

There's a new part out, "dLock".

Just as nice of a program as ever (no "prize" yet), but good luck getting it to run

Oh, I got it to run just fine, but you wouldn't even need to ... you can easily cheat the contest by looking at the .exe in a hex editor, since the answers (and message box text) are right there in plain text

Hint, search for the text you get when entering the wrong number (like the word "incorrect") and scroll up a bit, that's how I found it

Since you figured out the answers, you think you can figure out the coding for the letters?

First one's easy enough.

The first one seems to be hex ASCII for "YRUF" ("FURY" reversed) ... but the second one, I really don't know (but those 1's and 4's in it must mean something)

The program won't run for me either.

I'm afraid that the program relies on a different version of the GTK+ libraries, but I don't want to break The Gimp if I have any problems, system restore to the rescue.

Zelda 3 prototype ROM? Me like.

I downloaded the ones he linked to and it still didn't work, so I doubt it

I am very tempted to cheat... but, I figured the first code out by luck. Whoopee. I wonder what the prize is, though. Imagine if it was the proto rom again. But I doubt it very much. Dare I cheat to find out? Maybe not...

The program didn't work for me until I opened the runtime environment and set the language preferences. Not sure if that would be the same problem you're having though.

There's supposedly another part to this contest anyway. Don't know what's next though *shrugs*

I think, what we should do, is find out where this guy "Okibi" lives, go to his house, and get the cartridge. Can't be that hard.

Even if it had actually existed and was in his possession at some point, he no longer has it.

Anyone read this thread?

The story goes:

- Okibi sends "Zelda 3" to ZeldaFreak to dump
- ZeldaFreak keeps it and sends a D&D game back in it's place unbeknownst to Okibi
- Supergun buys "Zelda 3" from Okibi...
- ...but receives the D&D game instead
- Okibi claims ignorance, Supergun receives partial refund
- Okibi cannot find ZeldaFreak or Supergun, to find out where the game is or refund the rest of the money
- Okibi is the victim, because he is an "honest person" who never even wanted to share in the first place but has been drug through the mud because of a few misunderstandings through no fault of his own

Yep.. sounds plausible. Game on.

Firstly, is anyone else here planning on participating the the Rated O Gaming Championship 2007? The prize might be the zelda 3 rom, that is if enough people want to play for it. Please let me know.

Now let me clear up that timeline:

- Okibi receives "zelda 3" from a friend in Indiana
- years go by
- "zelda 3" game stops working
- few more years go by
- the other "zelda 3" game gets put on ebay
- okibi's article gets posted
- videos taken of the board and flashing screen
- Okibi sends "Zelda 3" to ZeldaFreak to dump
- ZeldaFreak keeps it and sends a broken D&D proto game back in it's place unbeknownst to Okibi
- pictures of the cart and board are taken
- screenshots taken from the rom
- Supergun buys "Zelda 3" from Okibi
- Okibi is 2 days late shipping the game, so he refunds Supergun almost $400
- Supergun receives the game and claims it's a D&D proto
- Okibi refunds almost $400 more
- Supergun ships the "zelda 3" game back
- Okibi discovers that the game does not work, can't determine if it's a D&D proto
- Supergun suggest letting the USPS refund his $600 reminaing
- Okibi takes the game to the USPS and fills out the paperwork
- USPS destroys the game
- Supergun is refunded $600
- Okibi cannot find ZeldaFreak or Supergun, to find out where the game is or refund the remaining $76

I never said any of this wasn't my fault. All I'm saying is that I never lied, that game IS real, and I honestly don't know what happened to the game. I THINK ZeldaFreak stole it.

Now, here's the big question: If this guy stole the game from you, how is it you have the ROM, hmmm? How can you have the ROM if this guy you asked to dump it kept it and sent you a different game? That's what we all would like to know now, huh? How the heck you can have the ROM if the person you gave the cart to never gave you the game back.
