It's kinda hard to "give him a rest" when he's had over a YEAR to prove it's real, and he just keeps dragging people along with ridiculous crap like this "contest" (which--gasp--nobody won!).

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone was going for this thing in the first place given it's sketchy nature.

Trying to prove others wrong? I dunno.

To be honest, I don't really agree with his way of doing certain things (for example, he didn't release the fixed BS Zelda rom because people were giving him shit about it... when if he just released it anyway, his credibility would go up, and people wouldn't be so hasty to jump on him), but I'm not attacking him over his way of doing things.

He might have the rom, he might not. We *don't know*, and thus we're not in a position to attack him over something trivial like that. Like I said, I did the contest based on the chance that he could have the rom. It's a 50/50 chance that he has it or not. If we won the contest, we'd (theoretically) be given the rom. If we didn't win the contest, then we wouldn't have lost anything, except maybe some time. If we won the contest, but he refused to give the winner the rom, THEN it'd make sense to be upset about it. It's true he hasn't posted proof, but you know something? Yes, the lack of a rom would equate to a lack of evidence. HOWEVER, the lack of evidence does NOT equate to the lack of a rom. This is my reasoning here. Yes, if he had more proof, it'd be a little easier to consider the possibility that he does have the rom, but since we don't have any evidence, we can't tell for sure.

In short, I take a "innocent until proven guilty" look, as opposed to 90% of the internet, which takes a "guilty until proven innocent" look.

So that's my opinion. Take it or leave it.

I agree with Drag here about okibi being innocent. He hasn't proved that that it's real but he hasn't proved it isn't either. I may have said that screenshots/videos would be nice but that's only as an absolute assurance that the thing it real. I believe that this thing is real and that okibi was really trying for someone to win. He doesn't strike me as a some kind of asshole just trying to make everyone angry at him from the way he's talked to us about the hints and such. So I really believe he has it and would have given it to us if we'd won.

However, we didn't win so we've reverted to getting upset with him like we did with the fake Z1 ROM, because we haven't won it. So we don't have it yet. Big deal. This is just like any other contest that anyone takes part in (albeit this was a highly difficult, sometimes obscure contest) : How assured are you that the prize on the other side of the contest you're in is real? You don't unless you see shots of the prize, which most of the time you don't. So what make okibi's contest any different than countless other ones?

Nothing. This was just a hard contest for a sought-after prize that now because we don't have it we're acting like whiny, spoiled brats and flaming him. Get over it. The ROM will come up again in another contest and we'll try again when that occurs.

I think most of us are just fed up that a potentially (if it isn't fake, which it probably is) important piece of Nintendo history is being hoarded instead of released for everyone to view based on some silly contest.

And seriously, that this point, it looks just as fake as ever. Don't forget the "TOTALLY AUTHENTIC NINTENDO SCREENSHOTS" in the article.

From what I remember, those screenshots were faked up.

The 2 gameplay screenshots were fake and he even said it, they were only there to give a better idea of what it looked like ... all that was ever shown from the prototype itself (if real) was the cartridge (including the inside) and title screen

ROFL... Is this thread going to turn into an "official" place to throw up fake Zelda Screens?

I thought it was even more than a year, like years.

Oh well! Maybe someday I'll see "Zelda 3 NES" for download somewhere and people talking about it and I'll be like "Nice".

Unless that's what was already happening. Who's to say if we solved step 6 he wouldn't have pulled the same trick again and come up with a step 7?

I specifically prodded and poked at the structure of this contest when he started to show up and post in this thread.. I didn't once get a direct reply or response to what I was examining, just a generic "it is suppose to be hard" that was followed by a short ramble. So meh, there was never any reason to think this was real, because he never once even stopped to consider for a moment that.. yes, maybe the whole contest WAS too poorly strung together to really expect anyone to ever finish it before the deadline.

I am pretty amused that he later claimed someone finished it but didn't claim the prize, too. Why the hell would someone go through the torture of this mind-maze and then go "Durrr.. no tanks.. hur, hur.." when presented with their reward? It was obviously an excuse to try and keep people active in the whole thing. (If people were convinced someone completed it, after all, they wouldn't give up so easily..)

So yes, I'd have to agree.. there was never going to be an end to any of this, he never showed a lick of proof to suggest otherwise.. It was always going to be one step after another..

Because the winner was given the choice of the rom or $20 and I cause money means more to him than a silly rom...

Really, that's interesting, since you never mentioned an option of prizes to any of US for this contest. When did you pull that one up, hm?

If you won Keitaro, he gives you the choice of $20 or the prize, it is like that with all of the Project Zer0 contests.

Its just funny because I never once heard that in the rules of the contest, but if you say that its been established as such for ALL contests then I suppose it would have been implied. Regardless...yea
