Actually, "A Link to the Past" makes perfect sense!

Step #2: You had to link the triforce and the Hojo clan. In the game title, "Link" is the second word.

Step #5: You had to translate the Old Hylian. Old Hylian refers to a past language and "Past" is the 5th word in the title.

Could this be the answer we've been looking for? Someone e-mail this to him quick!

I emailed it to him just now.

Sorry if I've been rather inactive with this, I got sick last night.

There was no mention of Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Majora's Mask either as far as I know, but it might still make sense ... A Link To The Past was Zelda 3, after all

Well in step 2, the fake rom was a Link's Awakening DX Hack..I'm not sure if it would actually have anything to do with it.

Somehow the Link to the Past bit sounds too obscure..

Did you get a reply?

Yo if hes right, I say we all email that answer to okibi so in case a bunch of other people also have the answer and are just waiting till the last day of the contest, we still have a good chance of winning it.

Well... The problems are all the articles (a and the) and the preposition (to). "Link" makes sense in the obscure way that most things did, and "Past" goes along with the ancient Hylian part.

Augh, it wasn't the answer! It was a really good guess though.

Anyway, he said he gave someone else from here a hint, so did anyone else other than me get a hint? He might be talking about me. I'm not sure if he knows that my e-mail address is me.

Edit: To clear up confusion, I said it was a good guess, Okibi didn't say that.

Oh yea. He said "Don't make it too complicated. Revisit the project zero website."

Edit: ooo and he also said that the answer is not something in one specific zelda game. So the thing I said before about the Level 0 thing was wrong.

From the Project Zero website...

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time was considered odd because of the inability to obtain the Triforce, or so it seemed. Many rumors can be found on the internet explaining how to obtain the Triforce. My question for you is... where is the Triforce located?

If that's the only question he wants answered... wikipedia gives this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImageetaTriforce.png

Looks like there's five steps there...

Although, I'm probably stupid and you already answered this question

* Xkeeper is subtly amused that people are worried, even now, of people sniping the answers.

I like how we all work together to get this far and then at the last minute decide to hide everything.

I understand how there could be concerns about this, but I really don't think we have anything to worry about. The only thing that poses a threat is the deadline, which is becoming sooner and sooner the longer we wait.

This will be my last post on this forum. All future hints will be posted in the Rated O Forums under the appropriate Project Zero topic.

I agree with XKeeper. Everyone was sharing answers, but now things are different. Most the emails I get aren't being discussed here, which makes me wonder if everyone decided to be greedy. If that's the case, no more hints will be given to everyone who emails me from here.

However, if you decide NOT to be greedy, I recommend you look at the latest news post on Rated O's main page.

I guarantee you, sharing info is the way to go at this point. And no, no one else (other than the previous winner) has given the correct answer yet. Once someone does, the contest will end.

Here's the last hint that will be posted here...

zeldafreak knows more than he tells was and is important

Also, I thought gzila was going to post this, but I guess I'll do it.

That was... quite lengthy, but interesting. I didn't know most of that about
durians. I'm not sure I could've picked out a good one if I did find someone who
sold them, so thanks for the info!

And since you were kind enough to give me all that info, and that you didn't
even mention the contest AT ALL, I'll give you some more info, which you can
share if you'd like.

The hint for step 6, which you now know to mean "five steps, five hints" is to
be taken as there were five steps, but they are actually just hints. Hints to
what? What do you have to do for step 6? Visit the Project Zero page to find
out!

Thanks,
Jake

Well obviously this is another "type the answer in a link" kind of thing. only problem is...is it php? or a ***.ratedo.com? maybe a ratedo.com/***/ ?

I also found this http://www.ratedo.com/projects/bszast.php
the BS Zelda page written by ZeldaFreak...if it potentially has something to do with his site, this page might be it...I alked okibi and got this.

Is the ZeldaFreak thing a connection? Well, I guess it could be. Does it relate
to Ancient Stone Tablets? You tell me. I've actually had several people tell me
that I'm full of it regarding the Zelda III proto rom as well as fixing the
Ancient Stone Tablets rom, which someone posted a link to in my forums. The roms
linked there are on my site but are still unfinished. I think I haven't touched
those since back in March last year.

How does this relate to the contest? Once again, it may or may not. You tell me.

-okibi

So I asked why he thinks it was a "type the answer in the url" solution, and he said:

As for the "type in the url" solution, most of the time in the previous steps when Okibi said to "visit Project Zero", that's what it usually meant.

Edit:
No matter what conclusion I come to, I can't figure out how step 4 (zelda and "I am Error") fits as a hint.

I was thinking step 1's hint was the "all you need to do is answer one single question" thing. I don't know if it relates to the triforce's location.

I thought step 5's hint was that everyone got mislead, but apparently step 5's hint is the zeldafreak thing.

step 3's hint might be "it's a fake", but it also might be "hidden in the symbol".

I'm not exactly sure what step 2 was. Was it unzipping the rom? Either way, I have no clue what hint possibly could be there, unless there was a message hidden in the rom?

and again, step 4, I really don't know what the hint here is. Maybe it's that you need to email okibi.

And yesterday I was thinking that maybe there was another answer to "where is the triforce located", and I said it was located within Link, Zelda, and Gannon, but it was a wrong answer.

Anyway, I'm not sure what he wants, but hopefully we can do it without hints, seeing as now he's refusing to give us any more.

On the main page it has something about RO-Lines..I already emailed Okibi about it and got a lengthy reply. It has something to do with the store credit line where he shares 60% with its members or something like that. Info here: http://www.ratedo.com/ro-funds.php

I'm still reading through it to make sure I understand everything. at the end its signed

"If you actually read all that, tell me... would you like to sign up and get free
money and free games for doing absolutely nothing? You'll get a hint once you
reply to this email."

Edit: The reply,
"Does this have anything to do with the contest? Nope. Not at all. I just wanted
more people to know about RO-Lines. You don't have to sign up for the hint
either. Here is your hint:

What Step are you on? Wrong. You're on Step 1."

I asked too, and got the lengthy response too.

The RO-Line doesn't sound like something I'd ever use. I mean, I like oldschool gaming, but I don't use the actual systems anymore. Emulation is more convenient for me.

The RO-Line would also cover hosting costs, if you're being hosted on the site, but I already have hosting, thanks to Jesper.

So yeah, even if I signed up to this, I probably wouldn't use it much... if anything, it'd just decrease all of the other members' profits, so I declined to it. I kinda felt bad for declining, so I told him that I'd understand if he didn't want to give me the hint because I declined.

However, if he does give me the hint, I'll post it here, pronto!

Edit: Dammit! You edited your post right when I posted mine!

Either way, at least Okibi's being honest about him advertising.

So anyway, this is pretty much what I suspected...
"To win the grand prize, all you have to do is answer one single question..."
So what is the one single question?
"My question for you is... where is the Triforce located?"
Is that it? The answer he wants can't be The Golden Land, can it? We already tried that answer, and it only just gave us another hint.
...unless we just answered it wrong?

Also, I wish I knew how Zeldafreak ties into all of this.

Ok, I just now got my reply, and mine says:
"What Step are you on? Wrong. You are on Step 2."

But mine might be step 2 because I usually referred to step 1 and step 2 as the same step.

I just did, here's the response:
"Haven't we already established that by entering that into the archive for a password?"
So that's not the right answer.

So what is the question we possibly could be answering? The 5 steps are 5 hints.
What are the hints? Because the zeldafreak thing in step 5 actually is important, the hints can't be the answers we gave.

Where is the triforce located? Where did the triforce come from? What do these things mean? Zelda freak knows more than he tells.

For the second step, the triforce was left by the three goddesses of Hyrule.
