*sighs*

The first word is "five"...

-okibi

holy crap, and I tried using four and five before and came up with no reasonable answer.

I guess this throws out the idea..

Reads further: ah, acmlm figured out the reasoning behind it. n/m..

This contest makes everything ridiculously hidden, wouldn't you think?

I just got a confirmation from okibi, we did manage to correctly decypher the numbers, but that's not all we need to do. The translated numbers are a clue as to the answer he wants.

Maybe we just email him the hints he posted for each step? Or maybe it refers to tips they give you in AA?

Zelda 3 is a fake.
Zelda 2 has an Error.
Zelda's shield for Link to take.
Zelda freak is actually Jake
And his riddles invoke terror.

I basically sent him a response that summed up all of the steps, but he says it doesn't solve anything. I'm not entirely sure what next...

I don't know if he's referring to the hints he gave us, or the hints each step already contains.

Or perhaps the steps and hints he's referring to aren't the ones from the contest?

What if the next step is to translate "five steps five hints" into Hyrulian? I was able to find out what 'five' was, but I'm at a loss for 'steps' and 'hints': "Nethi steps Nethi hints"

I was even thinking maybe somehow this would lead to an address on the ratedo website...

"Steps" could also refer to walking steps.

Just throwing it out there.

well aside from my joke post I associated all the hints to having a "hidden" quality.

The Golden Land is hidden and sealed away by the sages.

Fake, being not real, imaginary. The imagination is hidden in one's mind, and only one can imagine what's hidden in the world or in life.

Three Eye Rock, the palace is hidden/veiled and only by using the flute would you find its location.

Error, as in computer bug. an unwanted, usually hidden defect in a program. The picture perhaps relating to the Minish being hidden.

The dummy info.. in context of clue 5, "zelda freak knows more then he says", surely was hiding the fact that you simply had to answer the question stated and not interpret the phrase in some way.

Finally, step 6 the number code "hides" the hint, which refers to all the other hints relating to everything being "hidden", taking us back to step 6, like a looping paradox, lol.

Unfortunately this wasn't what he was looking for.

So far, every step has had something to do with Zelda.
Step 1 and 2, the rom was a corrupt Zelda rom.
Step 3 was about the triforce.
Step 4 contained a Zelda 2 quote, and a picture from Minish Cap artwork.
Step 5 was about Hylian.
Step 6 hasn't been connected to Zelda yet, so I'm thinking that one of the games had you do "5 steps" in order to get/accomplish something.

Any ideas?

I know of one. It's actually SIX steps, but...

In TMC, there were 6 Gorons you had to get into a cave. Fuse with one of those two gardening brothers, and one Goron busts through a wall into a cave.

There's 5 Mysterious Walls you can fuse with to get 5 more Gorons into the cave. After that, well.... You can fuse with the 6th at the end of the game to get Biggoron to appear at the top of Veil Falls. I have no idea if that has anything to do with it, though....

Well, actually.... I'm not sure if he'd accept it, seeing as I'm not really taking part in this... I've just been reading the thread and when I saw that and remember that part about TMC, I just decided to post it, just in case it helped... So yeah. Anyone else think I should e-mail it to him?

Hmmm.... Wasn't there 5 tombstones/graves you had to push in Link's Awakening DX to open the Secret Dungeon? Could that have anything to do with it?

I might be going a bit too far out there, but... What if the answer is "Ganon" (or Ganondorf)?

1-2) Something corrupt (Ganon)
3) "About" the triforce [Ganon is all "about"/seeks the triforce]
4) "I AM ERROR" could loosely relate to Ganon being in the wrong, evil, and the Minish Cap artwork might simply signify what Ganon captures (Zelda).
5) I'm having a hard time relating this to Ganon...maybe it is simply that Ganon knows Hylian, both old and new...

Yeah, that step 5 really is an odd ball. I don't know if the Zelda freak part is supposed to be applied or not.
