You are confused about the hint. You HAVE the hint.

Once you understand the numbers, you'll understand what that means.

That's pretty f'in lame. The winner of the rom declined the prize. I don't think so.

But if we have the numbers, the hint becomes useless.

It is a catch-22.

You doubt the winner declined the prize? Why? Does it really even matter?

If you're going to say that's just an excuse I made up to keep from having to give someone the rom, then why am I allowing another winner to get the rom? Interesting...

Anyways, all Project Zero prizes are $20 minimum value. Meaning you can take the prize or $20. He took the money, but I want someone to win the rom.

I really wish people would stop making lame excuses because they don't want to try to win the prize. And for those who ARE trying, such as Drag, GZilla, and Bomberman10, I'm glad you are willing to attempt the contest to get what you want. Do what it takes, right. No sense in complaining about it because, if you read the actual article and forum posts, it gets everyone nowhere.

Thanks for those who are playing and good luck!

About the numbers, THEY DO TRANSLATE TO WORDS. You just need to figure out how.

Great! Its good to hear that my idea was on the right track.

Here's my biggest worry, if the date 4/5/07 acts as a kind of cipher, then my original assumption would be wrong and it could be any word really. I don't really think the answer would be so obscure as to require tedious trial and error such as that though..

Wow, words cannot explain how much that hint helps.

So, it translates to words, but we need to figure out how. I'd say the first thing we need to try is just a simple one-to-one cypher, like we have been doing.

I get the feeling that 0 could be an s.

Edit: 0 might not be an s afterall. I don't really know any words that work well.

The longer the contest goes on the more traffic your site gets. Hey guys, we are giving away a free M2 at romhacking.net. To win it you simply need to find the Holy Grail and ride pegasus across the endless desert twice and the prize is yours!

I came up with
"5834 01430 5834 78510"
"rage skegs rage marks"

I don't think thats it.

this might help.

Assuming the numbers have a one-to-one correspondence with a letter (ie. one number only represents one letter in the english alphabet... ) then I did some counting to figure that for the 7 different digits, there are...

26*25*24*23*22*21*20=3,315,312,000 different combinations of letters that can be chosen, if you're catching my drift...

I could write a program to list out all of those, but 3 million some odd combinations would not be a fun list to look through... in my opinion...

I'm wondering why there's no 2 or 6...
9 is understandable.

Edit: Also, I think what he means is that the numbers, when translated, are a hint to something else.

Ok, if 5834 is five then i've figured this far out:

5834-01430-5834-78510 goes to
FIVE-??EV?-FIVE-?IF??

So all I don't have now are what 0 and 1 are if what I've deciphered is correct.

It's "five steps five hints" ... so now I'm guessing we have to look at the 5 steps all over again and find out how they could be related

This idea might be too far "out there", but lets take what Acmlm put together is correct (for example). What if we have to decode it further? For instance, every third letter makes a word or whatever...

Ok then if thats the case:

Step 1: I believe this was the unlock the fake rom and figure out what wrong with it. The hint for unlocking it was "Where is the Triforce located?"

Step 2: Figuring out the Three Eye Rock, dragon, and Hojo (?) clan connection. The hint was, "hidden in the symbol" and the question, "So you knew about the rumors of the Triforce in Ocarina of Time? Maybe not, but you knew where the Triforce was kept. Did you know the triforce has a hidden meaning that is derived from an ancient clan? Tell me about this." There was also a picture of a triforce with three 3s hidden in the image as well.

okibi also gave a hint:
Posted by okibi
If you saw the symbol on step 2, then you probably looked up the story behind the Hojo clan from Japan. The tale is about a dragon who gave three scales (roughly). Three scales are three parts of the triforce, hidden in the picture are 3 3's. The 3 3's relate to the dragons... Valoo, who is supposed (maybe) related to Volvagia, who was once in a game mistakenly called Barba, from Zelda 2. Three dragons, three scales, what else is 3 related to the final dragon... Barba...

That's right, in Zelda 2 he was the boss of Palace 6, which is called ***.

Which leads us to ***.ratedo.com

Step 3: Step 3's hint was I AM ERROR and also gave a picture of Zelda holding a shield from Minish Cap.

I think Drag had the rest of the hints and stuff because he sent the e-mails.

I think step 1 was split into two parts.

Step 1: The zip file / extracting the rom.

Step 2: The rom itself, discovering it was a fake.

Step 3: This page, where you had to enter the url for the next step.

Step 4: This page, where you had to email okibi, explaining the quote and the image. Just telling him what they are, pretty much.

Step 5: This image Decyphering this image, and answering the question, and explaining how there's "dummy" info in the image that was useless.

Step 6: 5834 01430 5834 78510 -> five steps five hints

That is each step so far. As for hints, they've all been publically given. I haven't exclusively received any hints.

If I'm the only one who could possibly solve this riddle, how is it that you guys/gals are on step 4?

Because you're giving us the answers. No one would've thought of going to ratedo.com/threeeyerock until you solved the "riddle" for us, telling us that the answer was the name of the 6th palace in Zelda 2.

Posted by okibi
Adamant, that just got you one step closer to step 6 and you don't even know it!

By the way, someone from here just figured out step 4...

I think it was also said somewhere that Rated O has something to do with step 6 or something... and with what he said to Adamant, I'm guessing it's another folder on ratedo.com... that's just my deduction...
