Does everybody constantly go downloading files from anywhere, with no rhyme or reason, or what?

Yeah pretty much.

Not me. I tend to be pretty sane about it most of the time.

I use Norton myself, and although it is pretty bad, it still gets rid of whatever I get- which isn't much. Most of the files I tend to download already get virus checked (torrents and such) so theres nothing I have to worry about anyway Atleast Norton doesn't go to extreme lengths to delete any false positives like NOD32 does (Infact I switched from NOD32 to Norton because it got so damn annoying that I couldn't use packet editors or even play some games)

As for the exe, I blocked it, so even if it does anything (and logging it showed nothing for 5 days) it won't be able too. At most, the only thing I see this doing is just sending client-related info such as who uses it, what operating system, etc.

I'm using Avira right now, but the ads when it updates are starting to annoy me. Suggestions?

I used to have McAfee, but I got fed up with it's resource-hogging and unistalled it. Now I have no anti-virus software.

That is why about 90% of my programs come free.

AVG Free Edition is good enough for me.. for now.
