Well it's senior project time, and between school and work, I've been working on my game a little, which is my senior project. I just finished up most of the main tiles and paths for my OW, just a few minor tweaks and things here and there a little later on, but anyways here they are:

Hmm, this OW is really good. Maybe that little island is too square-ish, but still good. Good work, keep it up! |

Thanks for the suggestion regarding contrast. Do you know where the path creating tiles are? I knew at one point, but it's been so long, I've forgotten a lot of the fine details of SMW hacking... I mean the tiles that are shown when creating a path after a level is beaten. It looks like the tile for the hills or something....

I've gotten a little further along in my hack, almost done with level 1! Just wondering about the sprite graphics I'm testing out for the spike tops.

The sprite looks cool, perhaps you might want to make the spikiness more pronounced, though as it is it looks 67.45% unstompable to me.
The overworld graphics are cool but the actual palette is a tad dreary and depressing, it reminds me of a wet weekend in Hull (which is interesting since I've never been there). Unless you're going for a stormy weather type world I'd brighten it a bit. |

well I thought instead of being bright and colorful as most mario games are, the story would be something like Mario gets a letter from toad telling him to meet him at toad's mansion in toad city (on toad island lol) and mario goes through the toad island levels, through the city to the mansion to find that boswer has attacked the city (and the mansion) and has left mario a letter informing him of a secret plan to take over the world, so mario has to find him and stop him. Based on the storyline, the levels and worlds will be sort of dreary and torn apart, showing bowser's destructive actions. The mansion at the end of world 1: toad's island, if you guys remember, was pretty bloody This isn't a bright and colorful game, I mean if an evil person was taking over the world, it wouldn't be now would it? ____________________ |

That's an interesting idea, and certainly original. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. I don't remember anything about blood in a mansion since I'm new here, but I indiscriminately approve of anything to do with blood and gore, since I have a slight imbalance |
