I don't care if Voice Chat is in or not, unless they have a strict voice chat mode I'm not going to use it, because I feel it's more of a distraction than something that's actually needed.

Diamond and Pearl have the voice chat mode which I use by itself, I only use the mic feature in that game in that mode and trading, using it during battle would just distract me.

And unless it's a 2 VS 2 battle, it would only be useful for thrash talking. Same would be the case with Super Smash Bros Brawl...

not necessarily, you could tell your teammate what you're doing etc. And it'd just be fun to talk when playing with friends. Stuff like "did you see that?" and there's nothing wrong with a little friendly trash talk between friends.

also, todays update is that there won't be any until January 7th

I'm actually surprised there was actually updates during the Christmas holiday, but then I figure they have way different holidays in Japan. >> Even if some do celebrate Christmas over there.

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing to have no updates this week, but we'll know the whole roster, in what, 3 weeks, when it launches in Japan.

And nowadays, there's really no excuse for the PAL delay. Due to severeal facts, such as PAL TV's supporting 60 hz. Infact, most TV's supports most combinations (PAL/NTSC at 50/60 hz) as it's cheaper to produce them that way nowadays.

And PC games usually are released worldwide at the same time.

Sometimes I wonder if they release it in a country at a time, so they can see how it fares in one territory, before releasing it into the next.

Well, a lot of times games only get released in a certain region. *coughmother3cough* But there's no excuse to make SSBB arrive late in Europe/wherever else.

In the case of Mother 3, it seemed like NOA was afraid that it would flop like Earthbound... which I don't really understand as there's been crappier and floppier games coming from Japan than that. ._.

And when NOA don't bother with it, so does NOE usually. Meh.

Today's update after a whole week of no updates is classic Melee stages such as Onett, Corneria, Brinstar, Rainbow Ride and Yoshi's Island (SMW one). Kinda shabby, don't you think?

Well, I'm happy seeing that they brought back Onett.

Heh, that SMW stage. I remember reproducing it once in SMW. xD It's not as intresting in the orginal game...

I enjoyed those stages except Rainbow Road. Good to see some familiar ground coming back.

Doesn't anybody think that Sakurai is running out of ideas for Brawl already? We're one month away from release and Captain Falcon hasn't been confirmed yet. Also, we don't know ZSSamus and Snake's Final Smashes nor any levels from Sonic or F-Zero yet.

well, there is always additional translation like french, german etc. Furthermore Nintendo of Europe is not Nintendo of American and does their own localization, although, to be fair they should both recieve the material at the same time, instead of them recieving the north american version after it's released.

There is one advantage though as the Pal release is usually the most polished and bugfixed and sometimes has extra features like in the case of ICO.

what I wish is that we would get all the stages from SSB and SSBM, I still want the original Hyrule Castle, and the original, LONGER Great Fox, I mean I don't get why they give us stages like Yoshi Story in Melee when the two stages were near identical, or the Kirby stage, I really miss the long great fox, and it wouldn't hurt to see a few more of my favs from Melee in Brawl. It's not like they don't have the space

Fighting Alloys and 100-man Brawl announced today.

People have been talking about the Red Alloy and seeing if he is indeed a Captain Falcon clone.

Red Alloy: A male, red alloy. (Samus Clone)
Blue Alloy: A female variation of the red one but doesn't fight much. (Zero Suit Samus Clone)
Yellow Alloy: An alloy kid with menacing horns. (Lucas Clone)
Green Alloy: A small, pudgy, Kirby-like ball. (Kirby Clone)

Also, 2-player Multi-man Brawl (Wi-Fi too) announced as well.

they released that information earlier than usual.

why would the characters be based on just 4 characters though?

that seems a bit limiting, what were the fighting wireframes based on in melee? they were unique right?

I'd say if anything these characters have a combination of moves from different characters.

There were only two (male and female) in melee and there were so many in 64 that you could tell which one was supposed to be which character. With these four, they can assign several movesets to one type of character(one yellow may do mario's moves, while another is like lucas) and you wouldn't know right away. It's minor and I hope that's what they do to keep it fresh but you never know.
