I'm sure *someone* will figure out a strategy. They always do. However, I've yet to see one with Mr. Saturn...

Oh, you haven't? Mr. Saturn gives Samus nigh-infinite recovery, 'cause she can drop it, then detonate her bombs on it and blow her and it in the same direction at roughly the same speed repeatedly, then air catch it to do other stuff.

Do you have a video demonstrating this? I'd love to see how it is done. I bet there's tons of shit I don't know about Melee, and I'd sure love to see it all.

It kinda makes me wonder if there's a site for SSB games like metroid2002.

Hm... For a text-heavy game, it sure is easy to understand the story and how to play it without knowing what they are saying. (I beat it and understood it without any translation guides or game-play guides.)
I rather not try to fill in the blanks while playing a game. I think there was a translation in progress somewhere... *shrug*

And I didn't know about the Mr Saturn thing. I mostly used them to mostly annoy opponents in the game. :p

While in theory I'd agree with you, everyone I know can see the people who got the invisibility item in the previous game. This looks even easier to get around.

Invisibility wasn't the point of the item; you didn't take any damage while it was active. It was like a weaker star.

That doesn't actually counter my point in any way. You still can see past the invisibility, so what's the point of an item that apparently only does this part, and badly?

Eh? If you're in a smoke cloud, sure, they know where you are, but they don't know what you're doing. If they run in and try to hit you, they may alternately be hit by a projectile, or a jumping attack, or what have you. With invisibility, you see what they're doing just fine, since it's always much easier to see them when they're making an action.

Nintendo probably is just adding it in because it might be fun to have in the game and probably was easy enough to code in. I kinda doubt they are thinking up strategies for every single item they think up (or at least any major strategies). But yeah, enough of these on the screen and vision becomes hindered. The smoke will not hide your location so well, but it will help hide a plan or another weapon your player may have. Plus I bet this thing can become a projectile (better than nothing eh?).

Today is Ike's Special Moves!

Somehow reminds me of Kirby's Final Cutter.

Interesting that he doesn't flinch while using it.

(His other move only has a single screenshot with a bit too many flames to tell what's going on too well.)

Heavy characters having moves they can't be out of... Makes them significantly, significantly better.

I approve.

Flinchless moves are an awesome addition and if they're used liberally will make this game vastly better.

I approve. I approve hard.

I'm just happy to see he doesn't look like a total clone of Marth like I thought he would.

The fire thing reminded me of Roy's standard special.

Yes but that was just a strike without flames shooting up and an explosion if charged fully. This one's a bit different.

As for the update, if heavy characters are going to have flinchless moves it could balance the game better. In Melee, Ganondorf vs. Fox is suicide because you can't hit fast enough.

Ganondorf's standard attack was quite fast, and knocked people back slightly all the time. The delay between hits was poor though. I broke a combo with that move. Most of his other moves were slow though.

Hmmm, you're right. I usually don't think about standard attacks much though. I forget about them in the heat of the battle.

I'm gonna go ahead and put down my guess for tonight. I'm thinking it will be a song. Just because we haven't had one in a while.

Oh SNAP. He was right.

Kid Icarus: The Underworld. Nothing too revealing, but... probably the level music.

It does sound pretty cool though. Since I was right about that, I'm predicting tomorrow they will officially announced Peach.

if you think that all the pro japanese players aren't already drooling over the possibilities this item opens up then you simply aren't seeing it's full potential like the rest of us. It's a very slight thing, but in serious matches can have a heavy impact.

also, that kid icarus theme... I'm in love.
