I said Fumi was an anomaly, not that match. Fumi's a beast. It's awesome to watch.

And it'd be significantly less awesome if Yoshi wasn't a lower tier character.

See, I'm not trying to gloat like you are. I'm not saying," oh! yoshi is the best!" I'm just saying he was never bad. Lots of people think he's really bad. I mean, very few people are good with him. I'm not good with mewtwo, I don't think he's bad tho. And besides, I don't only fight cpus, unlike you I seem to have friends. I don't need to go to a tournament. I play for fun, not competition.
Oh, this is lovely! You're saying I don't have friends, just because I like competition. I haven't had someone like you in a long time.

Yoshi's a bad character. Sure, you can win with him, but it'd be infinitely easier to win with a better character. Yes, some people are going to be awesome with him. Even my Samus would get utterly annihilated by Taj's Mewtwo. But just because people like Taj and Fumi exist, doesn't mean Mewtwo and Yoshi are tournament-capable. It means Taj and Fumi are awesome. I play a lot with Mewtwo, but unfortunately, I am not Taj. In the same way, Yoshi Master, just because you are better than your friends, doesn't mean you're good with Yoshi, as you can only ever be as good as your competition allows. Thus, you are not Fumi, and neither is Joshua. So... Unfortunately, you're wrong.

Yoshi's a bad character? There is no such thing as a bad character, only bad players. I have won numerous tournaments while using a wide variety of characters, including Yoshi. People rag on Yoshi because he doesn't have a proper Up B jump save move. But Yoshi is very strong relative to his speed and can take hits very well.

Sure he looks cute and cuddly, and that turns off "hardcore" players from using him, but he packs a mean punch and I personally hope they don't change him at all for Brawl.

Now lets talk about Skyworld. It seems there will be a couple stages where the floor breaks away. I wonder how fragile it is. One, two regular kicks and it goes down? Or will it take a most of the match to crumble? Will it re appear after a while?

Mastering this element is one key to gaining the upper hand. The floor quickly regenerates, so it’s important to keep your eyes on it.
Reading is good?

I'm curious on if you can walk on the clouds. The trailers seem to suggest you can, but the way that reads, it seems you can't. Very odd.

Even I can tell you that Yoshi's not too great. And you're a real shortsighted person for making accusations like that. Real mature.

I think the fact that were having this much argument about Yoshi on the internet is ridiculous. To each his own and that's that. I use Samus, Marth and Ganondorf but just to have fun, not take the fight incredibly seriously. If Yoshi Master is good with Yoshi so be it, if Alastor is good with Mewtwo or Samus that so be that as well. I've said my part in this discussion, now I'm moving on and not embedding myself in the discussion anymore.

As for the new stage, I think that if all the platforms are breakable, that's going to be a big turn-off. Sure it'll be fun for a while, but after some time and unavoidable self-destructs people will start to wish they could just be on solid ground. I think it'll be a less-played course with other levels available to play.

I have no problem with Yoshi as a character, I do have a problem that Yoshi Master is acting stupid and immature by going to the old "U haev no firnds!" argument. That's pretty much all I have to say on that subject.

As to Pit's stage: Awesome, I would love to play on that stage, more skill required, and matches would get more hectic. It sounds like a fun stage, although I don't know if many would want to play there. Sorta like how for some reason people who play Melee with me hate Big Blue, and yet I love it.

Sorry, but no. I'm not sure quite how you came to the belief that all characters are inherently equal, and that it is decided entirely by skill, but it's unfounded. Two different things can never be balanced. Even if it was somehow possible, it would not be possible for it to be designed by a human. 25 things, which are all different in many ways, have things no one else can do... It's completely impossible. So yes, by physics alone, the game must be unbalanced at some level, and there must be bad characters.

You may win tournaments, but that still doesn't prove anything, because if those are local tournaments, which is likely, competition is going to be low, and if you're better than your competition to any significant degree, then you can win even if you use... Well... Yoshi. That doesn't make the character good, it makes the people bad. It creates an illusion that the character is good, but this is unfounded. The sad truth is that it's not just that they're harder to get good with. The very best that anyone can get with Yoshi is just not as good as the very best that anyone can get with Jigglypuff, let alone Fox. However, even if none of this were true, my initial post on the matter was not really talking about tiers. It was stating that computers suck at the game, and that beating them three of them doesn't prove anything at all - I have one-upped his feat with Mewtwo, but I still think Mewtwo's worse than Yoshi... Because he is. He's not a lot worse - they're BOTH at the bottom tier, after all - but he is. And compare either one to Captain Falcon and the difference is just obvious.

A low tier character in a master's hands CAN be a force to be reckoned with. But on the other hand, even Taj, the best Mewtwo player in the world, still recognizes that in important matches, playing as Mewtwo is insane. He mains Marth and Fox.

The tier list perfectly accurate, and it's not like every Fox (best character) will always beat every Mewtwo (worst character). Even in major tournaments, you see people doing well even with Ganondorf, the bottom of the middle tier... But to say it doesn't matter at all is crazy talk.

Exactly. Someone needs to learn about the tier lists. I for one live by them. Marth is my character, why? He is second to best after all calculations of damage and lagtime and everything. I leave Sheik alone though, too tough to handle and requires much more practice then Marth does.

i play roy bcuz hes basicly marth w/ fire so its alot better

Eh, if you don't compete in big tournaments, character tiers don't really matter. Unless there's a high concentration of uber-skilled players in your area, it really does come down to skill level. I play as Marth mainly because he fits my playing style like a glove, that's all really.

Oh, don't mind me. I suck as Yoshi. I'll take Luigi or Marth any day.

Just gotta defend the underdog.

They matter if you feel like going above a certain level of competitiveness. If you don't find that level of competition fun, then it's not worth it.

And personally, I use primarily Marth. I'm quite good, but I don't train at it like the big tournament types do, so all my natural weaknesses are still there. Namely, I suck against Falco and Fox, and cannot touch a sufficiently skilled Jigglypuff. I can slaughter most other players though.

The other characters I play as frequently are all bottom-tier though. Ness, Mr. Game And Watch, and Bowser. My Bowser is the best most people I meet have seen, but I don't claim to be a Taj or something. And the other two are pretty good, but much better for team battles. (I still contend that a good Ness/Ness or Ness/Watch team would be death.)

Heh, you sound like a mirror story of me and... someone else I know. I main Marth, he mains Jiggy. Except my Marth and his Jiggy are a fair match

Suprisingly, he rarely uses Rest, but he loves to abuse Rollout. Ahh, how many times has he tested my reaction time with my down B
