I posted this in the other forum as well, for anyone who thinks it sounds familiar.

I am getting sick of Youtube ripping out most of the songs I use in my videos. I'm sure I could use remixes and VG music, but they always seem to fall short when I'm trying to set the mood on one of my series episodes. I would think that the owners of the songs would love to have the free advertising that we give them (I for one have bought many songs that I first heard on Youtube). Anyways, I'm thinking of abandoning the site altogether and maybe posting my videos somewhere else. I know of Veoh, but that's about as far as my knowledge extends. Anyone know of any good video posting sites that won't tear a video to shreds?

I personally don't know too many either. If you're really desperate, you might give NicoVideo a try. Emphasis on desperate.

The extension just added for the Wiki, EmbedVideo++ can deal with videos from YouTube, Google Video, Dailymotion, FunnyOrDie, Revver, sevenload, and Interia.pl (some foreign site I think).

Maybe those will help you. =P

That's the reason I used that extension over others, because it offered such a wide variety of possibilities. I agree that YT is getting a little stupid with their "omg copywrite" shit.

I second that. YouTube really needs to be more lenient on their copyright policy, they're WAY too strict on it.

"HEY! GUYS WE'RE GOING TO FUCKING REMOVE YOUR VIDEO!"
"HEY GUYS! WE'RE GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOUR AUDIO COMPLETELY!"
"HEY GUYS! WE'RE GOING TO FUCKING PUT AN AGE RESTRICTION ON YOUR VIDEO!"
"HEY GUYS! WE'RE GOING TO FUCKING IGNORE SMALL, OTHER CASES OF BLATANT THEFT OF ORIGINAL CONTENT!"

Just to name a few of the horrible things about YouTube, so an alternative video host will be very ideal.

So what do you guys think? I'll be honest and say that YouTube is really all that I know at the moment, but I've been thinking of trying Veoh since I've seen full episodes of shows on there, so I don't think they have much of a copywrite problem or even a limit on how long the video is (which could be nice in some situations). It can even search through YouTube videos, but alas, it doesn't have the lost audio.

I'll keep on searching, see if I can find any other good video sites.

I agree. And that's why I suspended my videos indefinitely until they remove that.

Nope. I just heard from A70M1C that videogame music is mostly not affected. Whew.

I could extend the board2 uploader with video functionality and a player, but at that point, I'd probably start being somewhat worried about bandwidth...

Yea, you shouldn't worry about doing that, Blackhole. We would probably murderize the bandwidth, and YouTube is still working out ok as long as we don't post any WBG music. I'll let you all know if I find anything that will work as a substitute.

Perhaps this thread should be stickied and/or have a thread dedicated to video related issues (making, problems, suggestions, etc.) since I haven't really seen anything close to such.

The more I look (and others I'm sure), posting videos on video sites like YouTube, Revver, Dailymotion, and Google Video is becoming very prevalent especially concerning Fraxy. There may be some who might want some stuff on video making in general and it would be beneficial to have something like that here.

Opinions?

Does this thread really need to be stickied? We don't need every other thread to be a sticky, that's just kind of ridiculous.

I know how to fix this. Or, at least, it should work, I haven't tried it yet. One of my friends told me about it.

1. Go to your videos.
2. Go to "Resolve Copyright".
3. Go to "I want to know more about the dispute process."
4. There should be several options. Choose #2, then type: This video fits under fair use because it is of a nonprofit nature and purpose.

It should work, but I haven't tried it yet.

If the above actually works, I'll never whine about YT's copyright policy. At least I hope so.
As I mentioned in a previous post, they're too strict on their copyright policy, and should be a bit more lenient on it.

Ok well I just submitted my dispute, so we will see what happens. The warning says that it might terminate my account, but oh well.

I've noticed the Youtube crazy removals too.

They've removed many videos of rom hacks.

You know the ones that you stand in place (SMW) and it plays the level for you, with some cool music in the background?

Yeah, I've seen SEVERAL of those get removed, and some rom hack showings.

I think it's ridiculous.

That's my 2 cents.

You know, I haven't gotten why everyone hasn't sent reviews. I mean, it's not like the evil conglomerate that is WMG will take them away, neverto be seen from again....

I'm glad you made a pretty constructive post that added to the topic, Kioku, but...

you need to check the date on the last post before your post. This is at least your second 2 month bump. please try and avoid any more

anyway, back on topic, I don't watch a ton of rom hack videos, so I've not noticed those being taken down. I have noticed a lot of audio removal, though, but that can be reversed by the method UP22 suggested earlier in the thread. that helped me keep the music in my newest video... for better or worse, as a lot of people haven't liked the music I chose
