I wonder what they were actually trying to do in those experiments... other than send light backwards. Doesn't sound like the kind of thing someone tries. "HEY GUYS LIGHTS MAKE LIGHT GO BACKWARDS!"

This and its referenced articles probably gives a better illustration of the whole "no information is being transferred faster than c" thing. I remember reading an article about either this or a very similar experiment in Scientific American quite a while ago.

I agree with Boing. They couldn't have been attempting to make light go backwards, I wouldn't even think that'd be possible ... If I wanted light to go another way, I'd turn the light bulb that way.
