This thread is simple: give me a suggestion on how to make Super Mario RPG as fun and cruel as you'd expect Kaizo Mario to be.

Also, this can work as an announcement that I am doing a/the Kaizo Mario RPG hack we all will know will come out eventually. =p

I'll start making it when LS V1.1 comes out. Hopefully, at that time, the bug with spell effects/nullifications/null will be fixed.

I have already started planning the entire thing out, to. If/when I need help, I'll come back here. =p

May I ask if you even know what that title you propose means?

That's a bad response. What do you think it means?

bh's right. That was almost witty.

Now, back on topic: How about Croco stealing your coins way more than usual? And then when you finally get strong enough to fight him to get your coins back, he went and spent them all?

About 2 months of hard work, perfectionism, and diabolical thoughts on my part, but some cruelty on whomever plays the creation. The goal is simply to make a Kaizo version of SMRPG, which I will enjoy greatly.

That can be done. I'm getting good with Event editing, so I can see this happening. =p

You are dodging the question. What do you think is the meaning of that Japanese word you toss around so freely?

Oh. Sorry. I misunderstood the main question. I only have assumptions to the meaning, as I know very little of the Japanese language as a whole. I have come to think that the word "Kaizo" means difficulty or challenge. Correct me if I am wrong, if you would.

In the context, it essentially just means "hack", which is... a fairly silly title to give a hack made by people who don't speak Japanese.

Those SMW hacks you are referring to, too, mostly have a distinct proper name.

I suggest you stick to languages you know for things like that.

As far as suggestions for a "difficult/challenging" SMRPG hack go... difficult jumps between sparse moving platforms and conveyor belts over lava? Climbing up large hills packed with thwomps? Granted, SMRPG doesn't have anything near SMW's possibilities for implementing near-annoying difficulty on map level...

Thing is, Kaizo Mario was hard, and he wants his hack to be like "Kaizo Mario". Those who have played or heard about it knows that that hack was hard as hell. The hack name is a proper noun, and Mecakoto wants the likeness of that hack in his own. Think about it: PEople are going to see "Kaizo Mario RPG" and they're going to go "Oh, this sounds hard" or "oh shit" because they've either heard about it or played it.

It has nothing to do with what it means. "Kaizo" could mean "golden plated jello dildo" for all I care, and it wouldn't make any difference. Like it or not, "Hard" was associated with the Japanese word for "hack" because of said hack.

tl;dr: Mecakoto is using established reputation of one hack to foreshadow his own.

Edit: crap, forgot to add... CONTENT.

How about playing through a normal level and then play through all the way to the boss, and the boss is impossible to beat? Instead of having to beat the boss, you instead have to find this idiotic shortcut that's totally obscure to finish the level. Throw some offensive/funny dialogue in there too.

Fair enough. If you can, could you change the title to "Hardship Mario RPG?" I'll leave the original post alone to promote some sort of fluidity to the posts so far.

Edit: That was made before the above post, and is exactly my thoughts put to words. I guess it can be taken either way. I'll leave it up to debate at a later time.

Now, on topic:

Jumps are easy to set up but I can't imagine them being hard in SMRPG, at least for the time being. As for making the map annoying, however, I already have some ideas of my own that will make as annoying as possible. I could still use more, though. 3 of the same thing in a row can get tired after a while for any hack.

Or have a choice of paths from time to time and getting to, facing, and beating the final boss after 20 minutes of just barely surviving then finding out "Your princess is in another castle," so to speak.

Or both. =D

Just give me time. The black chomper and Jumping Chuck of SMRPG will come out of the woodwork eventually. =p

Edit:

I need to get at least a little bit of work done on my Website for school, so I'll resume active conversation in 2 hours, 21 minutes.
