It used to be on OCRemix in the SMW section, but, after searching, I can't find it anymore... I managed to scour Google a bit and found the original module of it. Kinky. (note: Maybe it was VGMix. I don't remember anymore :x) It's called "You suck at Super Mario Bros 4!" And it's pretty much a funky NES cover of a few of the tunes in Super Mario World. I think it sounds awesome, personally - I remembered hearing it a couple of years back, and wanting to do so again. I guess I got my wish. =P Someone totally needs to make a real NES version of this. Since it's a module, all the original sequencing is there, so... =P ____________________

The SMW intro is eerily similar to how the unlicensed pirate did it. But it's generally nice listening to.
...and OCRemix have removed some nice songs in the post, for both stupid and proper reasons. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org

Sounds a lot like Acmlm's NSF of SMW, though with somewhat different effects in places, like the main level theme ("Here we go!" in LM).
Not bad at all though. Much better than the pirate game |

Posted by TweakerImpossible; the NES has what, 4 channels (2 square waves, triangle, noise) and this uses at least 5 (open the tracker window). I would've preferred the tracks as seperate, since I like some parts of it, but not nearly all... ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Well, I meant a minimum of 5. Often it's 6 or 7. ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Posted by Xkeeper I wouldn't doubt that it was for the extra samples used in the song, such as the scream-esque sample. There's the Toms, too, remember. I'm not entirely familiar with modules, but I'm sure they just split the different drum samples onto different tracks for the sake of making it easier to sequence. It was arranged with the NES' limitations in mind, so I'm more than sure it could be made into an NSF somehow. ____________________

Haha, I'm an idiot. It has a max of 5. Durrrhghg.
I still wthink that any conversion to NSF would be either as a novelty (NSF only) or extremely laggy if used in a real game ____________________ I dealt with it. |

Actually, the max an NSF can do for channels is 8, that I know of.
You would need to use the N106 expansion, though. It rocks for sound though. |

Posted by Hiryuu Don't forget the other 5 channels that are on the normal APU. Edit: which would make 13, that is ____________________ |

Flurry #&postrank& Making a NSF from that could be interesting and most likely possible, but my NSF code would have a hard time with the heavy use of arpeggios and I'd have to implement PCM support
Those sound expansions (mostly N106 and VRC7) are nice, but they're only for the Famicom, so it's not exactly the NES anymore to me when they're used ____________________ |

These NES remixes are far better than the ones used in the NES Super Mario World port them game pirates made. |
