Yeah bitches! Don't forget to start your torrents! (Downloading the full set of CDs/DVDs/Blu-ray is not actually necessary for the bandwidth and optical media conscious... most people should be installing it over the network unless you have special needs to require the full CDs/DVDs/BD).

Network install is... interesting and makes total sense.

Network install over the internet sounds like a bad idea to me. What if it fails and crashes, and the next book up your ethernet no longer works? I thought network install made sense for an intranet, but for the internet... I don't know so much. Depends on what tools you have available in the event of failure. (Other OSes on bootable media available to help repair the system.)

It would be better if they at least crammed the network install image full of anything one might need to actually get connected to the required network. I remember, back at my old residence, reinstalling my Debian system required me to get CD images each time because the only means I had of connecting that machine to the internet was an old WLAN card that only Windows drivers were available for, meaning I had to resort to using ndiswrapper... which was never included in the network install images. (And even with the CDs, I still had to carry over ndiswrapper and its requirements on USB flash disks because the actual package was nowhere near the low-numbered CDs)

Wow.... quite a level of paranoia there. If you don't like the idea, then just download a CD or DVD and install from there ~_~

... they already do. (How else would it possibly work?)

Plus, this isn't exactly a groundbreaking feature. It's been available for years...

ndiswrapper

Did you even really bother to read the post? Last I checked, they didn't suddenly start including that in netinst...

hmm, well ndiswrapper should always be used as a very last resort, and there's very few wireless cards that would require its use. That being said, I would be slightly surprised if the network install didn't include it...
