Ok, so Firefox was working up until 2 days ago. The error message is:

Error: Platform version '1.9.0.5' is not compatible with:

minVersion >= 1.9.0.6
maxVersion <= 1.9.0.6

The title of the message box is "XULRunner". I don't give a shit about Firefox, just help me convert cookies and temporary data (Like passwords and stuff) back to Internet Explorer format (And thus I can reverse that process to a new install of Firefox without worrying about removing that information).

This happened spontaneously and creates a problem for my dads business. Any input will help

It was the newest. It has magically done this.

...What? Firefox 3.0.6 is the newest, not 1.9.0.5...

Yes. You see, had 3.0.6. It is now 1.9.0.5.

I was hoping for some form of an explanation...

Have you tried reinstalling it yet? If you haven't you're an idiot who doesn't want help.

Are you, by any chance, on some Unixoid system? I remember this happening when I tried using Ubuntu's Firefox3 packages with Debian testing (which, at that time, didn't have them); the XULRunner package of Debian, though, misreported its own version, leading to said bug. I solved that by looking up some configuration file of XULRunner and manually editing the version it reports up...

edit: cf. that thread I posted about it

No, I don't know what a Unixoid is. And it's my dad who doesn't want help because I'm unsure whether the temporary data that firefox uses, like passwords and bookmarks, will be lost upon re-install, or whether I will be able to transfer that data to a new installation folder if I install it to a different directory.

Unix-like. Like Linux, FreeBSD or Macintosh.

Either way, chances are good that my solution works on Windows as well; you'll just have to find the analogous configuration file for XULRunner.
