I must be the only one who hasn't cared about the series since it went next-gen.

You can say what you want about XIII. You can say the graphics look great, or whatever, the fact is, Final Fantasy really died when it went next-gen.

The last okay FF game in my opinion was FF9. Ever since it went next-gen, it has really sucked horribly.

And I'm getting really tired of them putting a Cloud look-a-like in every game ever since FF7. It is really annoying now. We don't need a male blond character that has to stand out in a way, like Cloud did. It is obvious they keep trying to do this with every FF game. Cut it out already.

And while the graphics may be really good, I find that too much stuff going on the screen is not really that great. It makes things confusing and un-realistic.

Have you seen the latest FF13 trailer?

When you add too much detail, nothing really stands out that great. There is too much magic, vanishing, and fast-paced action going on to really keep up everything.

That is how I feel about the difference between classic Megaman and the Zero/ZX series. The Zero/ZX series puts way too much detail into their graphics.

Some detail is good. But when you over-do it, it gets out of hand.

Final Fantasy 13, featuring a blond-haired Cloud/Zell/Tidus/Vaan look-a-like. Why am I not surprised??? And the story doesn't even look that interesting.

One of my co-workers said that he actually enjoyed Revenant Wings better than FF12 itself.

Square needs to take lessons from Capcom. Graphics don't make a game.

I don't need to wait for it to come out. The videos speak for themselves. Look at FF12. The end result was disappointing. If you're going to show off a game, you'll see what it is going to be like. This game looks horrible, and I won't be buying it.

Come on PS3/X-box 360/Wii are all current generation.

...some people probably will probably keep calling them nextgen until the next generation of consoles is out *sigh*.

The jury for me is still out on this game. It does look good, but I agree that many of the FFs have been hit and miss. The only thing that I wanted to pointed out that makes this stand out a bit from many of the other FFs is that the hero is a woman. She might have blond hair like Cloud, but of course not being a man makes her quite a bit different.

I wasn't talking about her. I was talking about that blonde guy. His name is Snow. What is it with Square and their obsession to re-create Cloud?

If something sells once, there is no reason not to repeat it until it stops selling if all you want to do is making money.

Out of all the FF games I tried, the only one I liked was FF6 anyway...

Hm. FF games should be menu/turn-based and not have action based combat which is fast-paced unless it's some kind of skill or summon.

If I'm gonna try this I'll most likely download it. IF it's released for PC, that is.

Sahz Katzroy is the best character design ever in the history of the universe, and is thus proof that FF13 will be the best game ever made.

Any and all arguments to the contrary are invalidated by this picture:

FF4-6: Best FF games.
FF7-9: Still really good games.
FF10+: Doesn't seem all that interesting anymore.

Well the thing with Final Fantasy XIII is this: I liked the battle system in Final Fantasy XII. It was a neat battle system and I really enjoyed running around and fighting random stuff. The environments were really awesome and it had a really good feel to the atmosphere. That being said: The story sucked. It was awful. Little was done to make the player actually care about what was happening and I just couldn't get more than a couple hours into it.

That's what I fear is going to happen in Final Fantasy XIII. And there's nothing wrong with speculating that a game won't be good before you play it. I don't think Final Fantasy XIII will hold my attention, but I'm going to rent it, give it a try and see if it proves me wrong.

So RetroRain isn't a neckbeard and neither am I.

XIII looks pretty gay, to be honest. I'm going to get it of course, it will probably pretty good. I like FF VII out of the few FF games I've played, I'm more of a fan of a dystopian realistic futuristic setting (like VII) than a complete fantasy magical good hero thing. I personally think versus XIII will be pretty fucking awesome though. The atmosphere reminds me of VII too, and the graphics do look pretty awesome if they're actually going to look that good in game... All of the FF games video/commercials/whatever use CGI or in-game-engine-rendered-cutscenes, which will of course look a hell of a lot better than the actual game, since there's nothing going on but graphics rendering. Guess we'll have to wait and find out.

I still say out of all the FF games, FFXII was the better one (mainly because of my dislike for random battles, you could atleast see what you were getting yourself into).

I don't see your reasoning for the FF games sucking since they went next-gen; the only thing you have said is that the graphics have changed, but the gameplay still remains the same. You're pretty much saying if the next-gen FF games suck because of the graphics, the others suck with even worse graphics, because it's still the exact same gameplay wise.

I don't see whats wrong with too much detail.. I like it when I use a powerful spell and it actually gives off the impression from the animation that it will be devastating.
