I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out how to add battles on the map editor screen.
Sorry, but I'm new to game editing ; |

I'll help with this. In the NPCs menu, once you've created an NPC (I find it easiest to do this on a map with NPCs already created, for practice), change it's NPC type from 'Object' to 'Battle'. That option is on the right side of the NPCs menu, about halfway up. The options below should change, and then you can set the enemy data there. Picking a sprite and such is fairly self-explanatory, but if you want I can detail that for you |

So, something like this?
Is their a way to edit how they move on the map or would that be under the scripts section? |

Moving around the map is controlled by the selected action script, yes.
As for the battle settings, yes, that looks about right. Does it work well in-game? |

Sorry if bumping old threads aren't allowed, but I'm having a bit of trouble with setting this up. How do I properly configure what enemy group I fight? |

Once you change the type to "Battle" in the Level Editor under the NCP tab, you need to set the "Pack #". You can edit the monster pack's in the Stats Editor under the "Formations" tab. |

i need some help, i want to create a battle against a geno clone at marios pad. well i did everything i could think of to make it happen. i redid formation pack 1 to make it the geno clone. i put that in the pack number, i put the geno clone npc on marios pad, i made it were u cant walk/jump through the npc, i also set it to fight formation 1, and i set the action # to 400 to make him walk in place. but when i go to preview it. the fight wont start. is there anything im missing? and if u need to i will take a screenshot of how i have it set up. thank you |

Set NPC type to "Battle", Set Trigger to "Do anything except press A". You'll enter a battle when you touch it.
However, if you're trying to insert it on Mario's Pad, the game is expected to glitch as it uses a script that runs an ASM scenario. To remove the hardcoded event, change the event under Field tab to Event #15. I think this will screw up the transition from Bowser Castle to Mario's Pad though. Just pick another level if you don't want the thrown Mario event to be ruined. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

That's weird, it's supposed to work unless you mess up with the scripts. Try hacking a clean ROM, and see if the problems persist.
I already edited Kero Sewers and it's working fine for me. However, our PCs don't share the same OS, so I'm not sure. ____________________ SUPER MARIO RPG EXPANSION MY PERSONAL BLOG Got any SMRPG Hacking related question? astralgamma.nursing-resource.com |

well i have. i tried several times with clean roms. would have something to do with me having windows vista and it runs on on that 64 bit thing or whatever? because i heard if you have windows vista that you cant run lazy shell editor but everything was working for me. this is why i need to talk to the creators as soon as possible |
