Werehog. Chos or however you spell it. Space dinosaur that represents original life.
Shadow the Hedgehog. Argument against 3D sonic 1. Argument that I'm nostalgic for the old games 0. Simple fact is that I wasn't the biggest Sonic fan when I was a kid. I just can't stand the new game in lieu of what the series used to put out. Something fresh, original, and fast. I don't like watching Sonic walk slowly. It doesn't make sense for a hedgehog (actually nature's fastest animal, don't believe the propaganda), named Sonic, to walk at anything less than Mach 0.8. Transonic or bust. |

So, Sonic Team America, you want to leave the franchise behind? Alright, then, here's an idea: go out in a blaze of glory, and make the first M-rated Sonic the Hedgehog game. - First off: the protagonists need to be older. Cut the cute crap with Tails: if Shadow the Hedgehog is cannon, he went through a WAR. War is hell. Give his mind a few years to think through it all, and you've got someone who's lost every last bit of innocence in them; someone who might just become a bit unhinged if one of his good friends died... - Kill off one of the good characters. Take Max Payne as an example for the main character: dark, slightly unhinged, willing to kill to get to the bottom of things. - Don't overdo it (the infamous 'where's that damn forth chaos emerald?', anyone?), but make sure that the less-than-squeaky-clean characters throw the f-bomb around a little (EX: Sonic comments on Tails' violent actions, and Tails tells him to fuck off). - Camera. Ditch this horrible 'follow the action not the player' camera for an over-the-shoulder view. - Guns are good. FPS games are good. 16-year-old Tails with a pair of Berettas: awesome, if done right. - Violence. No more 'oof that hurt'; gunshot wounds cause bleeding, a shot to an unarmored target's chest with a shotgun = chunks of flesh blown off, etc. If you really want to take it to an extreme, include dismemberment (shotgun shell to the head at close range = not much head left). - We are not going to play as Sonic. Admit it, he's too much of a good guy to make this work. If the previous bits work out, Tails will be out to kill someone. There's your player character. - If possible, add a total genre shift to First- or Third-person-shooter gameplay. - Give us a chance to KILL one of the major bad guys.
