Create a group of small fighters to harass the unsuspecting Fraxy player! Each .fed must contain at least three individual fighters, up to 10 maximum. Your creation must be compatible with Fraxy version 20081118.

Including an image is optional, you can just put "sorry no image" or something for that column if you wish.

Three to ten fighter craft, eh? Sounds like an excuse to sneak preview the ZF crafts from Project G that I haven't built the stages for yet. I might take this one on!

I can tell you one thing, though: testing and judging should be on single runs, not repeated spawnings. Successive spawnings in 20081118 will erase events among the spawned fighters, since there's no way to seperate the fighters in a single .fed other than Deploy or Detach cores, but of which have been buggy for quite a while now.

Hm... for now I've changed this month's theme rules to "Your creation must be compatible with Fraxy version 20081118." That is, you can use any version that is not newer than 20081118, unless a new version comes out before the 10th, then it might be allowed.

If I can't gather an entry before then, count me in as a judge. If I were judging fighter drones, the criteria I would consider important for this particular contest are:

Size: fighter drones shouldn't be very much larger than the player craft. That said, they should be teeny compared to the bosses. (About twice the size of the target reticle inside the editor.)

Popcorn!: Since the .fed file can only be tested once before the event bug kicks in, the question is: Are the fighters a good base for a Try file if they were a swarm of individuals? I don't think that a fighter's low durability should be a knock against it: after all, there's nothing more pleasing than wiping out swarms of fighters. Classic shmuppy goodness.

Maneuverability vs. Speed: Speed to me is how quickly the fighter reacts on a line leading to the player. Maneuverability is how well that fighter moves around the player or across the player's field of fire.

Teamwork: Since the whole .fed file can position the fighters uniquely around the player, it seems to me that 3-10 fighters can make a real mess of things in short order. Makes for good "soup". This contest isn't quite abour building fighters, but building a formation *of* them.

Screen time: Please, please, please make more creations I can see while I fight them! It is not cool firing at a red blob on my radar. I don't care how cool an enemy's speed or quickness is. I'd rather have a fighter try to kamikaze me than dance away all the time and never be onscreen before it dies.

Aesthetics: Since fighters are small and the part counts low to avoid lag in large amounts, I think there should be a bonus for synching up parts that you wouldn't think to use on a small ship, or using weapons as fuselage instead.

Finally, scoring: fighter drones are really small targets, but really good players can figure out ways to get the maximum points out of them. Is there an easy way to do it once learned, or is it purposefully hard?

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I have a question concerning the fighters. Can the fighters have extras on them? For example: Options, Pods, Bits, etc.

I don't mean for them to be a replacement to fighter numbers, just little extras.

Also, can the fighters transform?

There's been over a month. Sadly, it seems as though a lot of users aren't participating in it anymore. you planning on getting in there? Technically you still have 2 days, as each Theme ends on the fifth of the month after it started. eg: Janurary Theme is ending on February 5th. I think it'd be awesome if you became at least a modestly active fraxier, Arbe haha

Besides, at some point in the future, we still need to see who can remake the Outlaw Star better ;D

The reason I haven't is that my fighter creations are being worked on for two different Try files instead. I got tired of limiting myself to enemy creation when FRAXY has so much more to do. No offense. I *wish* I had the time to toss off a creation or two, but I'm creating brand new enemy building methods that aren't polished yet.

Also, by the clock where I am, people have about 8 hours to put something up. If we go by standard time (UK), that means people have... 2 and a half hours... yup, this one's pretty much over
