These games are still very good in their own right. The only one I really played through was the first one, "Dr. Wily's Revenge." In fact, it may have been the first MM game I ever played. It was either that or Mega Man X. But I watched some videos of the other games, and they look really good, from the gameplay to the music and story. I don't really own any of these games, so I plan on buying all of them, but they look really cool, and I would code editors for these games if I knew how.
Capcom was going to release an Anniversary Collection for those 5 games back when they were releasing the AC for PS2, Xbox, and GameCube, but the GameBoy version got cancelled due to high costs in development. They were colorizing everything, and that would have been pretty cool to pick up. Obviously you can find some screenshots of it on the web, especially on GameSpot. Does anyone have any of these games, or has a favorite one? Mega Man IV looks very interesting. I like how they remixed the stages. Toad Man's level is completey different, which is good. It would have sucked if they did a simple port-over. The GameBoy Mega Mans have their own story going on, dependent from the NES games, and if you are fan of Mega Man, definitely worth picking these games up. Anyone have a favorite? I know a lot of people like V. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

I played through them all in anticipation of Mega Man 9. The first three games range from good (III) to downright abominable (II). Fortunately, by IV and V the developers seemed to have gotten their act together, and those games are arguably more innovative and polished than the mainline console series was at the time. Overall, I rather like the series, and honestly wouldn't mind a GB-style MM VI.
Also, if you're considering hacking any of the games, I found some data for the first one (Link). I suspect that III-V have similar data formats, while II doesn't (it uses a different engine IIRC). |

I just got done playing GameBoy Mega Man II, and during the credits, it showed that Jumping-Spring enemy, that is in Heat Man's stage of the NES game. But, I didn't see one trace of that enemy during the game.
Also, you are right, this game was horrible. I liked the fact that the game had new music, but then when I heard how awful it was, better to use the NES music than new music that sucks. Also, the enemy placement and level design was horrible. And the game was very easy, and the battle with Quint was a piece of cake. When I got done beating him, I was like, "That's it?!" That's all that was. You didn't even have to use the weapon you got from him. I played GB MM1 earlier today, just got done with GB MM2 now, and now I'm going to play GB MM3. This one should be better from what you are saying. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

I found MM3 GB to be the hardest game in the classic series. I got well over twenty Game Overs in Dust Man's stage alone. Still, it's a pretty good game, and also has the honor of being the only time Wily was smart enough to make a robot out of spikes. |

I own the gameboy mm3 one. It was my very first ever gameboy megaman in my life. And i loved it.
I also agree, i remember when i had so much hard times on dust man when i was like 14 years old when i first got a black/white gameboy, and that game. That was by far the hardest level of all in the game. I know for a fact I got countless game overs on that too, no joke! And the fact that's super freaking long. Over 40 screens long at least. Which is more than double the averave size of any of the NES megaman levels. But the gameboy mm's are fun. except for 2. MM5 gameboy is absolutely the most unique and purely fresh compared to any of the NES or gameboy ones period. |

I have played them all and I say that Megaman IV and V were the best of them all. Megaman III was nice, because you could beat the Megaman3 Robotmasters with a the chargeable Buster.
I hope someone will create someday a NES Version of Megaman V. That would be amazing. ^^ ____________________ I was a prisoner enclosed in the void, were everything might end up just as myself. I once tried to do at least just 1 screen from one of the levels of the gameboy mm5 before not long ago, i found the tiles all in YY-CHR/TLP and transfered them over to a NES mm3 rom, and then constructured the screen perferctly with color and all, right...?
But it was sooo small though. Since the gameboy's resolution is only half the NES, there was a ton of empty space on the NES screen. So forget that. |

my absolute favorites are I & III.
kuja I cant' agree with you more on Dustman's level. The jumps in that level had to be pixel perfect, friggin crazy. and you had to be careful cause some enemies would come over whatever pit you were trying to jump over, and if your not ready you get hit and fall, ugh |
