I used to cheat all the time, but now I realized that it kinda takes the fun out of the game, and definetely the challenge . So, I cheat whenever I beat a game, to screw around and stuff. Though, sometimes, I do cheat if I can't beat the game (And feel kinda bad afterwards).

Privateer did cheat codes right, put them in plain sight in the Options screen, but make you fail any missions if you have them turned on.

Like most people here, I'll cheat only after completing the game the first time (or two). Sometimes, when playing RPG's, I'll just use cheats the first playthrough just to get the story.

Sometimes I'll use a Game Genie to make a game harder. I do it all the time in Mario games.

Last view: 5195 days 		I dont really use cheat codes im pritty good like that to say the least... but when it comes to pokemon there are spicific events called nintendo events that require you to upload a piece of info in the game just to get an item which will allow you to catch a ledgendary pokemon. sence i cant go to a live nintendo convention i have to cheat to get these pokemon. or in other cases trade. such as that level 42 latios i got in a trade yea its hacked. i usually dont go for the ledgendary directly though i just cheat for the item needed to get to them so...

For me, I don't cheat unless I've played the game through once completely, with exception with RPGs where I sometimes cheat half-way through in order to weaken my characters or make the monsters stronger (see: Breath of Fire series), or to skip along the story of an RPG I played but left for a while so I can remember what I have to do (happened in many FF games).

And for the sake of rom-hacking or testing out game patches, cheating is really handy so you don't need to continuously go from start to the finishing point (the case with a few DS games)

Codes are only cheap if you can beat the game otherwise, and haven't done so.

Glitches are not cheap.

Cheats that are built into the game aren't cheap unless it's too overpowered. (See: Gradius games (overpowered). The Lost Vikings 2 (not overpowered).)

People using codes just to see the story of a game aren't being cheap, they're just playing for what they got the game for.

Last view: 24 days 		Cheating to me takes the fun out of challenging games. I enjoy playing a game the way it was meant to be played. Numerous deaths and fails eventually lead to your improvement, and then you are led down the path to success. It allows you to feel better about your victory when it's not empty.
