Gameplay video (battle between a Terran player (blue) and a Protoss player (red)) - Download video directly Info pages Starcraft fansite SEN Forums Hm, no SC2 thread? Well, that needs to be remedied! Starcraft was an amazing game, which still has a sizable player-base more than 11 years after its release, and a huge fan following. I used to play it a lot, but now I'm just waiting for SC2 to come out... ...Yeah so I'm thinking it's going to be an awesome game, obviously ... what about you people? ____________________ |

Also an avid fan of StarCraft. I think it was my most played game of all time, and probably my second favorite game ever.
However, I am a little less excited for SC II than I was even just a year ago. Their decision to split it into three different games (one for each of the factions) just seems wrong, or out of place. Most of my favorite games are that way because of their storylines, and if this is going to be split up like this, it will probably just ruin it. It also seems like a money-grabbing scheme to boot. I know, I know, Blizzard is in fact a business and are, in fact, out to make money, but with a massive cash cow like WoW, do you really have to try that hard for money. I'll be honest and say that, at this moment, I'm more excited about Diablo III than I am of SC II, though it makes me sad that I ever had to even say that about something as epic as StarCraft. ____________________ One does not simply Walken to Mordor.... |

I'm less than excited about that too, and really I can't see them needing to do it from a money standpoint at all; WoW makes them billions per year probably... but if they include enough story with each installment/"expansion", I'll be happy (and maybe if it's only ~$10 each ). ____________________ |

IIRC, each of the three campaigns will have about 30 missions, which is about 3 times as large as a single campaign from the original games. Splitting the games up does sound pretty reasonable, but only if they're properly priced. Currently, I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole ordeal. |

Posted by blackhole89Well, it'll probably be like how expansions normally work (see: Starcraft and the Brood War expansion, or most games out there with expansions (D2+LoD, SimCity4+RH, etc)), though iirc they are going to make them able to run standalone as well. ____________________ |

Money is of course going to be a big factor in their decision to do it, and possibly time too. It probably takes a lot of time to make the campaign, so they release it as they finish it instead of waiting for it all to be done and THEN releasing it (maybe). ____________________ |

Info on how the "Trilogy" will work (it will be like the original SC; the game and two expansions (not stand-alone games)). ____________________ |
