Regarding recent events in my life, I decided to write a novel. Or at least attempt to. So far I have a 1 page prologue and about 3 pages into the first chapter. A fictitious autobiography is what I would call it; it follows my real life to a point, then fiction gets heavily mixed into it. I'm not sure of the whole storyline yet, I should plan that out more I suppose. At any rate, here's the prologue. comments, suggestions?

Not to crush your hopes and dream here, but you generally have to do something significant to make your autobiography of interest to others. :/

As far as suggestions, I'd say you should try and shift the focus of the opening paragraph a bit. It's too oriented on yourself and your own personal lament. You should try engaging the reader by sprucing it up a bit.

Here some advice. Just keep writing, not matter what people say to you. If you want to be a writer, I suggest not giving up. and well an autobiography isn't exactly my cup of tea. Unless you were famous or something/

I've got almost 2 chapters done, not much progress considering the time span between the start of writing it and now, but I've been busy doing other things and whatnot. Anyways, that's what most authors tend to do: make characters similar to themselves and people they know, sort of base the characters around real people and base settings and events on real places/events in their lives, etc. Maybe not to the extent as I have, but it's still the same principle. The novel isn't an autobiography, it's just based off of events in my life and uses real people for the characters. I'm going for the cynical sci fi sort of atmosphere. I should start writing more....
