So, I've been drinking cranberry juice for quite some time.
My mom brings home a case of Sierra Mist, and I get this idea to mix Sierra Mist with my Cranberry Juice.

Next thing I know, I go to walmart and see a pack of Cranberry Sierra Mist.

I also predict that deathcore fans will come to a realization that they're listening to the worst kind of metal ever, soon.

Dude! DUUUDE! I KNOOOOW the feeling. A few months ago, I was thinking about the possible implications of me becoming the mayor of my city, one of which would be no more cars in the center, but a tram like system that would be free to all. A few weeks later, I go to work, guess what the headline is?

"Bath to face car-free future?"

Also wtf is sierra mist?

It's a caffeine-free lemon-lime soda from the Pepsi corporation. It tastes a bit like Mountain Dew, but it's less incredibly terrible.

A better answer would be to call it "Pepsico's Sprite".

... No... That's like saying that Pepsi is Pepsi's Coca-Cola.

But Sprite and Sierra Mist taste the same.

...7up is the way to go. Speaking of 7up, I recently had Diet Pomegranate 7up. Tasted surprisingly good. But the only reason they picked that flavor is because people think that anything with pomegranates in it is instantly super-healthy. ("Natural source of antioxidants? This can't be bad for me!")

I often get the impression that right after some fancy English word I didn't know or see before draws my attention, it suddenly becomes a fad and everybody on the internet and in real life starts using it.

Actually one of the stronger arguments for the "reality doesn't actually exist outside of my head" interpretation.

Speaking of which, why do you Americans always get all kinds of fancy soda we don't have here? I call geographical discrimination.

Hmm... Pomegranate-infused cigarettes.

I should get on that...

New Zealand got Raspberry Coca-cola.

I wish I could have tried that.

A particularly unnerving example of a phenomenon similar to what you descibed happened very recently to me:

I was browsing TVTropes and came across this article. Later that very same week I encountered a newspaper article about how some people think that trope applies to their real life. I am nearly unable to convince myself that that was a coincidence.

So I just got a 12 pac and I must say it tastes pretty great.
Not much different than pouring cranberry juice into a regular can but it's less sour.

There was something along these lines in something I read.

I want to say it's in John Dies At The End or the sequel...
