I really don't think he could Nintendo probably has copyright on Ice Mario as a power-up already even though I'm almost Certain they never used the idea.
As for another Idea... ... Possibly The Dark Worlds. Basically Just -worlds like in SMB2J. where basicly everythings the same but... enemies are all unkillable exsept for -Bowser of Course. Since Nekoranda from Rockman Peercast gave me a idea, should my Mega Man IV hack also have endless attack mode like Rock5easily currently working on. It's going to take a lot of ASM work and only if I code it from scratch.
It's my idea though but only if I actually finish making levels, music, ASM, etc. |

I've started on a new SMB3 hack. This will make my first one. I have some work-in-progress screens. It has been hard to think of good level ideas.
World 1 W.I.P {Yes I know it's a recolor. I just don't have a good idea.} How about that. The ? Blocks are in the same formation as the Colored Blocks More W.I.P It gives an illusion that there are more Bushes Coins, Clouds, 1-up and...a pink block? Colored Stairs Is that a Mushroom, A popsicle, or a Nut.... More W.I.P Triple...wait where did the Hammer Brother go. I aslo had a few ideas. A status bar similar to Mario Adventure {Back-Up Items & World Info} Kuribo's Shoe could be used anywhere {Also from Mario Adventure.} New and Original Items World 8 taking place in Space {Not Sure if it is possible} More than 8 worlds {Also not sure if possible.} |

Posted by KP9000Yeah, I was referring specifically to SMB3 since that was the game of discussion. Speaking of SMB1 though, Mario Seasons by DahrkDaiz - an SMB1 hack - has Ice Mario in it as well. There is another SMB1 hack with Ice Mario in it like you mentioned by Rage Games (The Adventures of Ice Mario?) but unfortunately I've never tried that one. Now that you've mentioned it though, I feel like trying it out. It's good to see that you've finally started working on your SMB3 hack, Nut! I have to agree with Z though in regards to editing levels. In SMB3 Workshop, open the Object menu, scroll down to Delete All, and delete all of the 3-byte objects, 4-byte objects, and enemies so that you can build your levels from scratch. (And make sure you don't go over the original number of objects and enemies unless you know that you won't continue using the overwritten data for separate levels and that you keep track of those cases!) I really like your World 1 Map palette changes though! The different colours look really neat! All you need to do is design a new overworld. However, I'll recommend a method that you may or may not want to use; and that's to focus on your level designs first. Considering that you might form new connections between areas (for example, you might connect 1-1 to 1-3 and use those two areas for one level) there's a good chance that you won't be able to design the most effective overworld in respect to your hack since you can never know how many full levels your world will actually have until after you've finished designing them. If I were you, I'd definitely keep those awesome palette changes and before you design your World 1 Map, focus on designing new levels from scratch that will be used for your first world. Best of luck with your SMB3 hack as well! |

Well if you're organized and keep notes of any data you're overwriting so that you don't lose track, then by all means it can be done to expand the size of some levels. It's all up to the ROM/SMB3 hacker.Posted by NutheadBrosHaving the one white platform in front of the other like that cuts it off. You should probably try switching them around and see if it works better. Provided you have some room left for 3-byte objects, I'd recommend throwing in some clouds so that the sky doesn't look too plain. I don't know what to say about the Hammer Bros. clan though. My guess is that some people might suggest spreading them out a little bit; unless your goal is a challenge hack, but it will take a lot of extreme insanity to outrank the abuse of Binary's Roots of Doom. However, my guess is that you're not aiming to make a challenge hack (correct me if I'm wrong though). Good progress so far, Nut! Keep us updated! |

Hacking ideas huh?
Im A HUGE Nekketsu Kunio Kun fan! Im suprised to see that there doesnt seem to be much of an interest among hackers in this series. Anyways...River City Ransom is my favorite NES game of all-time! I've always dreamed that they would've made a River City Ransom 2 for the NES. Now I know they made a game simular to RCR for the SNES. But its in no way close to being as great as its NES counterpart. Now, I'm not sure if this is possible or not as I know nothing about rom hacking. I just discovered rom hacking recently, and I have an intrest in learning how to hack roms... Anyways, my idea is for a River City Ransom 2! The same graphics, sprites, and characters could be used. While creating a new story to follow up on the first one, complete with some new moves, maybe some different store menus, new gangs flying different colors, and New Bosses. The Nekketsu NES series has alot of different games to get materials from: Crash N The Boys, Nintendo World Cup, Ice Hockey, RikiKunio Fighting, RCR, Street Basket: Ganbare Dunk Heroes, Super Dodge Ball, anf tha Samurai one. I for one love the cartoony violence, bright backrounds, and deformed character art work made famous by Technos Japan, thats what made these Nekketsu games so damn fun to play. If anybody has an interest in doing a project like this I could help you come up with ideas, and innovative ways to make this game badass and original... Im just a noob in all this but I think this idea kicks ass and to see it come to fruition would be like a boyhood dream being realized and coming true! Let me know what you guys think... |

This is one of my short-term ASM ideas
I decided to create something more "human" to NES Mega Man games. While Mega Man is underwater, it's HP is decreasing. I'm going to create it in 2 sections for each released IPS Patch with source code. 1] Only HP is decreased while underwater 2] The Air Meter like in Magical Doropie when Mega Man loses the Air Meter, you start inflicting damage while underwater. Here's the damn catch, The ladder TSA Settings while in water is consider as Air and the Rush Marine in Mega Man IV still generates bubbles while underwater and inside the Rush Marine. I don't know if I can reverse the code in Mega Man IV and I would suggest this ASM for Mega Man II also. (In that case, Mega Man II dosen't use multiple TSA settings in each level) |

A breath meter would be a better idea. You would use a free RAM address for the breath meter, and than once it is depleted, Megaman loses health. But once Megaman jumps out of the water, the breath meter is restored. If Megaman runs out of health completely underwater, he dies. And this wouldn't be that hard to code either.
Remember the ammo meter I coded for Megaman: Fully Loaded? It's the same concept. I might want to try to code this for fun. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

I was thinking about this after seeing KPimp's title screen for an idea...
Have Mario hold on to ledges like in M64, so he can pull himself up. My guess is to disable that Mario Bros. bootlegged shit and use them graphic to draw a holding sprite and a sprite lifting yourself up. It's just a thought... ^^; ____________________ My Linktree |

damn. Are the only games people do extensive hacking on Mega Man, and Mario games? Theres waaay too many of those already. Why dont people try hacking different games? Theres a shit load of games that have never been hacked or have been hacked to be nig pieces of shit. |

I think it's because many people prefer to stay on safe ground and use the available data to immediately create something working instead of going head on into an unknown ROM...
But yes, that's right, development seems to converge to a handful of games these times... |

Well that sux, but I think if sombody grew some fuckin balls to do that RCR2 hack, it would be the shit. I mean if you did the hack, i was thinking more along the lines of new scenery and/or music, or music used in other nekketsu titles. it would be lame if it was just new text and characters.
but thats what this thread is for right? new and innovative ideas... to me, it dont matter what u do with megaman and mario gams anymore...everybody and theyre mom has made a hack of those....its old. i dont see how people can obsess over SMW hacks... |
