I want to start a new Mega Man hack, but I can't come up with any good ideas. Seriously. I've been playing other videogames to try to get some inspiration, but nothing has worked.
I do know of an ASM hack that I would like to do, but I want to do more than just that, and I don't have a story or any ideas that would help me make a hack. This is a case of where I have the skills, but they are completely useless without a story, ideas, and a direction for the hack. I guess it is like Writer's Block. Anyone ever go through this? How do you get out of it? What do you do to get ideas for a hack? ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Posted by RetroRain Well, If I can remember there's alotta empty slots in SMB2 that's not used. Maybe you can do an 8bit version of Super Mario Advance. Since you don't hace to change any levels and such, maybe a SMB2 might be somthing you wanna get into. I know the games are different but I really can't remember right now... ^_~' ____________________ My Linktree |

Googie, every time you show a screenshot, it is always good.
Last night, I got out my graph paper and a pencil, and started a SMB3 level on it. See, it's weird, but when I'm away from the computer (not using SMB3 Workshop), I tend to draw really good SMB3 levels on graph paper. But when I have SMB3 Workshop open, I can't think of anything. Perhaps its because I have all of that power at my disposal, and thus my mind is not able to be imaginative? SMB3 Workshop can do almost everything. And this level I'm designing on graph paper looks fun and when it is done I will actually make the level and maybe show you guys it, so you can see what I mean. ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

Whoa! That's an awesome idea, KP9000! I can see the idea in my head like Googie - and that's an awesome screenshot.
I feel that way sometimes too, RetroRain. I sometimes go by old drawings that I did years and years ago of SMB3 levels, although most of the time, those designs aren't necessarily possible to do because of size limits. I usually take chops of ideas and then expand on them in each case to fit them in the levels and come up with ones that work. I'll really look forward to seeing your level too! I'm also happy that there is still some SMB3 hacking going on in the mix of all those Mega Man projects in progress. |

When I did that screenie, it's been awhile since I touch SMB3. Glad you guys like it, I hope to see the new enemy soon... ____________________ My Linktree |

Well hopefully we can do some more work on our SMB3 project soon, Googie. I do have the preview that you requested ready, but since my Internet has been acting funny and cutting out on me lately, I haven't been able to upload any new videos for the last few days, so sorry about the delay. I also feel like I'm closing in on completing my Quick Bros. 2 SMB3 hack, as I spent the weekend doing quite a bit of graphics editing.
Maybe I can get a couple of screenshots together just for a sneak peek so you don't have to wait for the preview. EDIT: Okay, I quickly snapped a bunch of screenshots. Hopefully with a little imagination, they go together like a video. It would probably be more suitable for me to post the screenshots in the Screenshots thread, but since I mentioned the idea of me posting screenshots in this topic, I think it'd be easier for me to just post them here. Hopefully bandwidth is not an issue. EDIT #2 NOTE: The screenshots are of Luigi's Chronicles 2, Googie's SMB3 project that I joined in on, not Quick Bros. 2. I'm keeping any new details about Quick Bros. 2 a secret. I'll fix up the Map later after I finish editing more levels. He looks like a gummy bear! A new area in which you actually work backwards; this pipe is a short-cut if you can find some way to access it. Ships are always fun, right? Right! Although I could be wrong... Take a leap of faith! Look, Mama Luigi! Levitation! (Or invisible platforms - you decide.) Mental note: Annoying captions underneath screenshots tend to peeve people off. |

If there's anything I look forward to, it's more SMB3 hacks. And who knows? Maybe RetroRain has already started working on it. |

QC: those screens of our hack looks tight! Luigi is in for something in round 2...
After seeing those screens, I wanna pick up on my Toad SMB3 hack now. It's still open for a spriter to edit some sprites to replace somma Mario's sprites with Toad from Wario's Woods. ____________________ My Linktree |

I still want to help you out with Toad's Trauma Show as well, and I did take a quick look at the sprites a while ago, but I didn't have enough time to really do some work on it.
I'm happy that you like the new levels I've done so far in Luigi's Chronicles 2 though. Hooray! Everyone is getting in the SMB3 hacking mood! Maybe I can experience an SMB3 hacking era after all. |

According to Ghettoyouth's site he stopped ROM Hakcing, we were gonna work on this hack together, I guess I can finish it so that way what we put into it doesn't go to waste. I'm sure he won't mind...
Another SMB3 hack in the mix? I say yes... ____________________ My Linktree |

"Mario's Destiny". I really like the screenshots! Hopefully you'll be able to finish it off, Googie. Is there any additional information that you can reveal about the hack (any ASM modifications, etc.)? How much more work before the hack is finished?
I say yes too. |

A'ight bet, I'll pick up from where he left off. I remember being somewhere in World 2, I'll look at all the levels to see what I can chef up. There were gonna be some ASM magic like enemies acting different and such, I think he wanted to make new enemies too. *winks at RetroRain* ____________________ My Linktree |

So let's see...
- Luigi's Chronicles 2 - Mario Destiny - Mario in Time Flies - Quick Bros. 2 - Toad's Trauma Show Are we on the verge of an SMB3 hacking era? I know I'm missing some SMB3 hacks in that list too. Also, best of luck with Mario's Destiny, Googie. Now that I think of it, RetroRain was working on an SMB3 hack called Dark Mario and from what I saw of it, it looked incredible. Is that project still being worked on? I'd love to see that SMB3 hack released as well. Of course, no pressure if RetroRain has decided not to work on it. |

Sounds awesome, KP9000!
And I knew I recognized the name "Mario's Destiny" from somewhere, and I just found out where! EDIT: Shall we add you on "the list", KP9000? (A little Heroes mystique there. ) |
