It's true that the concept will not be phased out of the human genome anytime soon, but I think we have conditioned ourselves towards deodorant more than the natural scents.
On the other hand, there is perhaps more to "smell of fear" than just body signals. We do release chemicals under certain conditions/situations and they probably exceed the deodorant chemicals.
There are products that claim to mimic some of our chemical scents in order to, for the most part, attract the opposite sex. The validity of such items are subject to debate.
On a side note, there is a debate as to whether deodorant is harmful to a person. The claim is, some of the chemicals get absorbed through the pores and over time cause damage.
