My preference is the 90's music. I guess I just like listening to ever-popular grunge bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden.

Eh, I like a lot of music, but the current decade has the greatest amount of my favorites, so it gets my vote

This has honestly got to be the worst decade of music.
I mean come on. Pop Punk? Metalcore? Fall Out Boy? Atreyu?

No thank you. I think the 90's, because that's when my favorite type of music started, Melodic Death Metal, but honestly, modern MDM isn't as good as it was in the 90's.

00's is the time of a simplistic and catchy format of music, and I got sick of it quickly. People are sick of nu metal for a reason, it's repeatative, so it got old fast. There ARE some modern bands/music I like though...

Well don't let me get you down on what ever I like, but that's my opinion.

For bands,

Metal:
old In Flames
old Soilwork
Soul Demise
Dark Tranquillity
Foreign Objects
At The Gates
World Under Blood

Rock/other:
CKY
Hot Water Music
System Of A Down
Smashing Pumpkins
Gorillaz

Metalhead detected.
But hey, I'd say Power Metal is the best genre of metal ever, but it's also considered repetitive.

2000s music are the best cuz that's when doujin music became great.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

...and that's all I have to say about it.

That'd be kinda wrong for me, cause I feel that the newer music is just plain shit. And I'm 15. So yeah.

Definetely 70-80s to me... I'll put 70s. Awesome classic rock bands, good lyrics. And it's actually MUSIC, with SINGING. Not someone talking about ganking some ho, or screaming into a mike. Boston, the Eagles, Styx... perfect musical goodness.

I am proud of you.

Except for the screaming part.

Death growls take talent. Sometimes they can sound forced, or bad. Some fit the style of music. It compliments the brutality of the song.

But there is some screaming I can't take. For instance, metalcore vocalists all sound like 20 year old emos yelling at their dads. Atreyu is an example. He sounds like a wimp.

It is all in the execution of the scream/growl.

I'd rather hear some brutal vocals than some fall out boy high pitched emo vocals.

There are death metal vocalists that can sing.

Example is Dark Tranquillity's Mikael Stanne in Misery's Crown:

Man do you hear that voice? That's how a guy should sing.

70s/80s, but I chose 80s since my musical preferece is thrash/speed metal and hardcore punk.

I really haven't listened to many post-2000 new bands, mostly because the non-oldies radio stations here in Arizona play the same nu-metal, pop-rock, emo, (insert current fad here). I've yet to find a station that consistantly plays actual punk music. Then again, neither genre is particularly radio friendly so it's probably a pipe dream.

The best music is a careful combination of 90's - now. I listen to a lot of instrumental and videogame music, which has a tendency to build off preexisting works. Also high on my list is a few nerdcore artists, and a couple of metal bands.

I'd have to go with current, only because more music is being written as we speak, and the genres I prefer are constantly growing.
