It's not really easy for me, since I only have ~30 mins to do so, and a lot of times it's only on days where I get a break like that. But, I do sometimes (like right now) and I just wish that the company I work for (OfficeMax) doesn't do that online personality check thingy... it's just unsettling and weird.

Do you guys do it? Are you allowed? Is it easy for you gain access to the board?

If school and university qualify, yeah. Back in school, a few teachers complained at times, but their resistance crumbled before the force of alt-tab and 20+ open windows.

When I'm out of home, I typically tunnel through to the server the board is hosted in using SSH so that further browsing of mine can't be tracked by overly curious sysadmins and whoever else might have access anyway.

No, I do work at work. If I'm on break I'm eating lunch or talking to my coworkers.

I used to post while at school, if I got bored during a break or something.

Then I got meatspinned and decided I probably shouldn't risk that sort of thing. :/
Since then, I've never really bothered to head to the board while at school.

I used to work at Wal-Mart and I can assure you that there is no point trying. At the store that I worked at (I assume that this is the norm), the only regular computers are in the manager's office. The rest of the store uses Wyse Winterms connected to a central Windows server. The Windows shell is replaced by a custom shell that provides access only to in house applications and web sites. It is possible to change the URL in the web browser, but all internet access is through a whitelist proxy. Even it were possible to access other web sites, doing so would likely be seen by management due to all the computer terminals being heavily used or in high traffic areas.

I have read (at Slashdot) that at the home office, emails are sent on a regular basis listing every web site visited and telephone call made by the recipient along with a note that a copy is being sent to their supervisor.

KP9001: Was that test a pre-employment "survey" designed to detect applicants that have permissive attitudes about tardiness or drugs, or who might not be a team player?

When I was in high school, they usually let me do what I wanted on the computers. They still had filtering which wasn't TOO bad freshman year. Most sites were unblocked as long as it wasn't obviously like FLASHGAMES.COM or PORNSLUTSXXX.NET or something (That sentence might get this place blacklisted somewhere. ). Even IRC was possible if it wasn't on 6660-6669 or 8000something. Sophomore year it got kinda bad but a security hole was leaked that you can get local machine Administrator access by not putting in a password. That was good for pretty much the entire year. I put firefox on several computers and set it so the Internet Explorer icon pointed to firefox for ever user on there. Junior year the filtering got more annoying so I set up an SSH server and proxy at home for stuff like IRC and checking my email. Senior year I didn't have much opportunity to use the computers at school so I really don't know other than I got in trouble for playing zsnes once, and I even had it in 256x224 R WIN so it would be tiny but the resolution was like 800x600 so it didn't help much.

The only site that was ever blocked for me was a Swedish social community site called Lunarstorm, which was way popular before MySpace... and even Friendster.

I myself remember registering on it, but never got interested in using it.
