I never used it yet, and I most likely will pretty soon. I know I have to buy a Wii Classic Controller, but there is something about the Virtual Console I don't like. As it's name suggest, these games are only that, virtual. I'd rather own the actual game, and play it on the actual hardware it was meant to be played on. Just because I heard there was a limit on how many games you can have at one time, and if you fill up that space, you have to delete some to make room for new ones, where as if you own the actual game, you don't have to do that. How is the Virtual Console anyway? Does it emulate well for most of the games? ____________________ My YouTube Channel |

I've played through Super Mario RPG on the virtual console, with a Hori Pad controller. The Gamecube button positions royally suck for playing Super Mario RPG, but I played completely through the game. I think I saw a few glitches in a few spells (like Mega Drain), but nothing to affect playability.
It has limited savestates, in that you can return to the Wii Menu in the middle of a game, then go back to the game exactly where you left off. Nintendo doesn't store the games very efficiently, each game has its own copy of the emulator and everything. You can redownload deleted games for free. ____________________ |

Never.
Because we (read: parents) don't want to waste money on the wii points. ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

I seem to spend more on the VC than I thought. Enough so that I'm actually running out of room on my Wii.
Then again, considering I don't buy NES games and mostly buy SNES/N64 that's not surprising. Also Wiiware. |

I use the Virtual Console every now and then, cause it's great to relive the classics.
And storage might not be an issue anymore, as Nintendo is possibly developing a WiiHD sort of thing, where you have a hard drive of flash memory compatible with games, and it plugs into your Wii Console. |

I never use the Virtual Console. Its only purposes are to make money from old games and keep free rom downloading illegal. The emulators on PC often have better graphics and sound, have more features (for example, I love the rewinder in Nestopia) and most important, are free. No space worries on our PC hard drives either.
The whole concept is still a lot better then XBox Live Arcade though, as on our Wii VC we can play the true Nintendo classics we love. As for Nintendo 64 emulation on PC, my experience is that nearly every game runs fine on Project64. |

Posted by NSNick With VC, you buy ROMS! Just like the free ones, but in a somewhat signed/encrypted version. I prefer just buying Wii games, which give me an original box/manual/DVD. It's not like downloading Super Mario Bros is going to give me a NES game with box/manual/cartridge. Satoru Iwata is a marketing genius. But that also makes the Wii sell better than the PS3 and XB360 Edit: damn, I notice now he was not talking to me at all! Maybe I should just quit posting, it's all too unclear and too complex for me to keep track of everything on a big board like this anyway. And I find it a bit scary to talk to unknown people. I quit using IRC years ago because of these same two reasons. I was not of much value on this board anyway so nobody will miss me. |

The biggest online forum out there is Gaia online. Bet he would get a heart attack from just looking at it. :p
My family have bought a few games from Virtual console, such as Star Fox 64. I would say it's nice for the N64 games, where I would prefer to use a Gamecube controller. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org
