This morning I had to finish my lab assignment, and I got so caught up with doing it/downloading the latest two eps of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki, that when I finally looked at the time it was almost 8:30. I was running late for Calculus class, which was three buildings down and two floors up, so I bolted out of the computer lab like a bat out of hell trying to get there on time. As soon as I stepped on the sidewalk, my foot got caught up and I nearly did a faceplant, falling on my right leg and skinning my left elbow and lower ribs. I just shrugged it off, cussed for a bit, and walked away like nothing happened. I was more butthurt about my filthy clothes and my favorite watch getting busted

So I make my way to the Math building, looking for a bathroom so I could at least clean the dirt off my wounds. A task much harder than it looked, since for being such a large building, there are entirely too litte restrooms. After five minutes of aimless wandering, I finally managed to find the men's bathroom... only to find out there was no toilet paper. After some more cursing, I decided for the next best option: going into the women's restroom. Hey, it was an emergency. I wasn't going to let my scratches get infected just because I didn't find anything to clean them with. So in walks this girl while I was doing my business, and she looked at me with a "wtf?" expression on her face. I just said, "Don't mind me. It's an emergency. The men's restroom is all out of paper, and I needed something to clean my scrapes with." So she goes "ah ok" and locked herself in a stall. I lay down on the ladder for a couple of minutes, to wash out all the shock from the accident. By now I was running pretty fucking late, but I didn't notice because the watch was stuck at 8:29; it took me a couple of minutes to realize the hands had stopped moving. Then I got up and headed to class, about 20 minutes in.

The rest of the day went pretty much normal, although a lot of people found rather disturbing that I happily showed up to my classes with a scratched-up bloody arm and elbow. Nothing's really broken, and the only time it hurts is whenever I laugh or sneeze. Stupid rib injury

This is your life on anime.

I had similar incidents when being caught up in something interesting (mostly programming various gadgets on my end, though anime has been at fault several times too) enough to delay my departure for whatever event until the last minute. It's hard to get all your five senses back into reality on command after a phase of high concentration.

I remember spending a German class asleep back in grade... 10 or 9?, waking up minutes before the next shift and bolting down into the ground floor restroom (the first floor one was in repair). Now, the entrance to the men's ground floor restroom in that building was right opposite the stairs. Since I was in a hurry, I leaped down from the third step or so and went on to leap into the wide open restroom door. Or that was the plan, at least. Practically, the not constructed for my height metal frame objected. I only remember a sharp pain at the top of my head and finding myself lying on my back with my feet in the restroom shortly after.

At least I could use the injury as an excuse to skip the class.

Looking at your case, it seems somewhat odd to me that your ribs still hurt from pressure differences like that. I'd get them checked up.

I used to pick up the bad habit of falling asleep during secondary upper school, but thankfully managed to drop it in the time for College. Despite that my sleeping schedule is actually worse off in my college years.

Are you serious

Presumably because it is a class for the discipline of math most commonly known as calculus, that is, concerning the fundamental theorem of calculus, that is governing differential and integral functions and their relations.

Maybe because he's never taken a Calculus class?

Anyways, my closest coming to this was when I was five minutes late for computer Science because I was busy watching Wall*E In the library.

Well, I was late for class several times.... Once in 9th grade, before first period, I went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. I pulled out my... Game Boy Advance... and played for a good 15 minutes and lost track of time. Sucks to be late for history class...

Another time in the first couple of days of college, I shit my pants after lunch. Must have been some bad eggs for breakfast or something... Good thing I had a cell phone.

That is fucking hilarious. Seriously. I've had my fair share of "shit i just crapped my pants" moments. This one time at school I had diarrhea, and a guy started a fight with me, I hit him, he pushed me against the wall, my colon goes "boom".

Luckily I got to the toilet before anyone noticed, passed it off as a nose bleed and being sick.

Well... calculus is the English term for the subject... and you obviously speak English... so where's the problem?

We call it Calcul Différentiel and Calcul Intégral...
I'm not sure if there's a term that defines both as an ensemble...

Fast forward to 2010 A.D.; a new thread about talking about one's failures has been posted.

Trax: "So there was this thread, in 2008, where I thought 'calculus' was an unusual or needy of an explanation for its usage word for calculus..."

By the way, we call the field "Analysis" here.

One of the more notable school failure moments in my life was somewhere around grade 8. I was passing the break before Biology class in a sorts of fencing duel with a classmate (yes, we did silly things like that), me equipped with a plastic pointer while he had the 1.somethingmeter blackboard-use ruler, swung out for a gracious hit and hit the flourescent lamp right above me and breaking it in two halves right where it was, which then proceeded to fall down on me. For a few seconds, I was just standing there confused as to what just happened while the white dust that was inside the tube settled around me, when somebody pointed out that I had blood running down my face. Apparently, one of the two halves that came crashing down struck me in the head with the sharp end down.
After finding out what I did to her lab's lighting, the biology teacher hated me even more than she did before.

Yeah, it's typically known as analysis at higher levels of maths, but calculus is a totally legit term for it, due to its relationship with the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

Man I've never shit myself *knock on wood* in a public place. I have a few times at home when I was little but that's it.

As for injuries at school, noting really notable. I fell a lot on ice on the way to and from school, though, almost breaking my leg, once. I'm pretty quiet and I tend to stay out of people's shit and stupid drama so no issues have really come up. I imagine the most notable things are the vast number of times I burned myself with the soldering iron in electronics.

Today we had a surprise Calculus quiz on what was covered on Wednesday. And that's the day I came in really late because of the injury, so...

My calculus teacher actually has those... and of course she had to tell the whole class.
