Main charcther from Mother (aka Earthbound zero/NES) is called Ninten too. (although some people incorrectly refer him as Ness).

That's awesome I have to try that.

there is a lot of crazy stuff in pokemon games... the bad eggs are the result of using too many cheat codes related to capturing some sort of pokemon. This egg only takes space in your box, but it'll crash your game after a while (when it hatches or randomly)

I think the very well known missingno is the template used to make every pokemon, or the code of the pokemon's behaivor itself, the different forms are becouse the data is not what's supposed to be, and the ghost/fossils are ones that were randomly used to hold the graphics and be used as the ghost in the tower and the fossils at the museum.

"If you like this game, buy it or die" anti-piracy message in LeafGreen

There are many games with that, in TA for example, If your cart gets damanged while you are playing, you'll get a message.

Ah, I remember when I first discovered Missingno around 1999 or so...

I was scared when I saw it at first, then realized that it had glitched my sixth item. (Well, it was actually setting the high bit to 1, thus adding 128 to my sixth item, but I didn't know at the time.)

Yeah, but LG's actually says buy it or die.

Tetris Attack's is more of a generic "PIRACY IS BAD, KAY?" screen that's nearly unreadable. I know because I got it a while ago

It was funnier because it was slipped in to a person's dialogue. If I recall (I still have to dump my LG again ) it was something along the lines of "Oh, that's [something]! Now you can [xyz]! By the way, if you like this game, buy it or die."

(I have yet to see this in the context of the game but it is most certainly in the ROM's text)

This thread from the third incarnation says that it pops up after the Aurora ticket speech in Vermilion City. You even posted in that thread, Keitaro.

This is what happens a few levels into Puggsy when the game detects SRAM, which the real cart doesn't have, but all copiers and emulators do (though KEGA Fusion lets you disable it). It plays spooky music in the background.

It seems the game's programmers used to be part of the demoscene, so I'm guessing they had first-hand experience with such devices.

Well, I seen copy-protection schemees on other games. Such as Earthbound zero NES and... Earthbound for SNES too. I'm not sure how the latter is activated, someone ROM hacker was being funny and made the screen on SNES earthbound activate instead of playing his demo hack. (changing a single byte fixed this)

Is that "33 - Unknown Track" in the Project 2612 set?

Whoa, holy crap! I've never heard that one! I like it!

I love this game's soundtrack so much.

...anyway, that screen uses the "World Guardians" theme (press C on the overworld). It's also used in one or two hidden levels, such as Lunar Jet Pug.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I found something interesting in Pokémon again today.

Start a new game, and once you're dropped off in your room, do the following.
1. Walk directly to the stairs to go downstairs.
2. Walk directly out of your house.
3. Walk directly into the grass to make Prof. Oak take you into his lab.
4. Once Prof. Oak and Gary stop talking, continuously walk down as though you wanted to leave without a Pokémon, ignoring Oak's warnings.

After a while, your character, Prof. Oak, the middle Poké Ball, and the right-hand Pokédex will disappear, and you won't be able to move. Pausing and unpausing the game will fix the problem, but on the Pause screen lines of glitch characters will appear.

Screens of the glitch:

I recorded a video of this in VBA 1.8.0.b3 using Pokemon Blue (UA) [S][!].gb. It's a bit long, but it shows what you have to do to pull off this glitch.

One, it isn't old. Old is three months, especially in this forum.

Two, haha what the hell?

It keeps doing it even after you unpause the game. And if you do it in the other side gary will be the one who dissapears...

There's nothing much you can do with that though... I tried saving to see if I dould leave the laboratory or something but you move up when they dissapear...

How the heck does one even find such a weird glitch like this.
