We aren't all about ROM hacking you know. Just because that's what you mostly do doesn't mean that's what the rest of us do.

Actually, that's the reason this board exists at all, whether that's why you come here or not.

Of course they can. "Not at all." Because Acmlm's Board spawned from ROM hacking discussion, and board2 spawned from Acmlm's Board.

Yes but by this point there are more threads geared toward general discussions and debating than toward ROM hacking. Regardless of the fact that Acmlm's started around ROM hacking, that's no longer the largest draw.

Oh, of course. Yet, the statement that ROM hacking is the reason this board exists at all is completely and utterly accurate.

board2 exists because a bunch of members from Acmlm's Board decided they wanted to keep a board...

board2 came from a community and the fact someone still had a board uploaded.

My main point before the thread got derailed however, was that the name is fine, no need to change it from board2.

So the name of the board is "Board2" ? I still call it ACMLM's Board from habitude...
I didn't know there were people who really thought this board is not about ROM Hacking...
When the board will not be about ROM Hacking anymore, I will stop posting in it...

My opinion is that, since this board is about ROM Hacking, people talking in it are expected to be ROM Hackers, and they don't come here on the sole purpose of talking about random subjects. If you compare this forum with, say, RHDN Board, the difference in activity is not THAT apparent. It's just that RHDN is more focused on ROM Hacking only...

Anyone whining about the lack of ROM Hacking related activity should make the first step and throw something relevant in the pot. Activity will ensue by itself...

A breakdown of threads that have been posted in during the last seven days (by forum):

General Chat: 7
Gaming: 6
Help/Suggestions/Bug Reports: 1
Debate: 2
Spatula: 4
Hardware/Software: 5
Adult: 1
Entertainment: 1

Rom Hacking: 10
SMW Hacking : 2
Rom Hacking Releases: 2

So... 14/41 = 34.1463% of our active threads are rom hacking related. Granted, these are by thread and not by posts, but I think you'll find it's the same even if you go by posts.

Gamingw. Eeveryone knows that site. IOt's a game making community. (RPG Maker, game maker, games factory, etc)

so yesterday i was reading their rpg makr forums and i saw an interesting thread which led me to
this thread

so lets compare this

gamingw is a site about game making
acmlm's is a site about game modding

gamingw jocks dont give a shit about gamemaking dudes
acmlm's jocks dont give a shit about romhackers

gamingw is going under a "SO YEA IT IS DECLINGING PHASE"
acmlm's has been on this for years

gamingw seems to have figured out why
acmlm's hasnt, but since btosh sites look like, MAYBE THEY SHOULD GET AN IDEA FROM GAMINGW??????????/////

why is gamingw declining? they say it's because they dont have a main site thertefore they dont get new people.

guess what

Thats the biggesdt piece of truth ever. (this text was supposed to be fontsize=max but i dont knwo hwo to do it, can you do it for me mods)
Acmlm's Board has been dying because the main site has been dead and therefore less and less people join the boards for whatever reasons.

what the hell i am trying to say? if you shitheads dont make a fucking updated maion site, the board will ALWAYS be on a "so yeah it's declining" state

a fucking state reorg wont do shit
ignoring the problem wont do shit
killing the board WILL do shit, and that's the best option

howerver, theo nly way to save it is to make a FUCKING MAIN SITE
SO UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A ROMHACKING NEWS UPDATE SITE OR WANT IT TO BE "BLACKHOLE NEWS HERE IS WHAT I DO WITH ROMS" SITE KILL THIS FUCKING THING ALREADY

edit: don't glaze over this and decide it's off-topic; it relates directly to declining activity

Most of the latest posts are in The Landfill.

Frankly, if you ask me the site is 'inactive' because there's really no reason for people to join. There are much bigger boards out here, and if there's any reason for people to join, it is, IMHO, Lazy Shell and other up-and-coming projects that really aren't anywhere else.

Also, I highly doubt main pages are essential for a site. Facepunch Studios should tell you that, all their main site is is an image url to their forums.

Well, the amount of Landfill posts is because knuck's "Mormons" trolling thread attracted many replies...

We totally should integrate that smiley into the board. What code could be used for it?

I wouldn't discount the possibility of a main site contributing to activity, it's just that you have to make a point out of actually providing something other similar sites don't with it.

What we really do need is people who hold stakes with the board consequently including it in their feedback loop. Found some IT topic with potential concern to members of the community on Slashdot? Post about it! As it is now, I all to often come to a point where I'd feel like posting but don't see any recent thread I could contribute anything constructive to. I can imagine others coming into the same situation too; the ways that lead out of this, not posting or posting a pointless reply without actually having anything to say, both seem undesirable.

The point of codes is to make it easier to type.
