Even the Super Pack is half-price

so if you're missing any id games in your collection, it's a damn good weekend to complete it.

While this might be just due to me not being logged in (or having an account at all, on that matter),

"This product doesn't appear to be available in your region."?

Commander Keen for only $2.50? That's a steal.

Holy fuck

34.99 for every game on that list? THAT's the steal.

And these ones don't contain encrypted data files or any of that garbage. You can just copy the game data files and use them in any port

So is Steam anything more than a web site, or am I going to have to register for something and remain a member if I want to keep playing the games?

Steam is a Windows application (though you can run it in Wine) for buying games and downloading them directly to your hard disk.... the web site should give you all the information you really need about it.

You'd think, but it seems very ambiguous...

First it says:

After you've purchased a game, download it immediately and start playing.

Which would lead me to believe you download the games just like any other site. But then further down the page, it says:

Once you have a Steam account, you can sign in from any PC to access your games. Your games are associated with your account, not your computer.

Which sounds like some weird thing where I have to log in to their site to play a game I paid for. Ah, screw the whole thing.

You CAN play in offline mode, you know.

You just can't update the games through Steam or play multiplayer through Steam if you're in offline mode.

Not to mention, you can just run all id games completely standalone from Steam... put it on a CD-R, and you can copy them back to your computer without installing Steam again.

I bought the id Super Pack.... my computer can't handle Doom 3, but the rest are fine. heh

I already had quite a few games on CD (Doom and Quake games), but it was cheaper to buy the whole bunch than buy the individual ones.

This rocks.

I'm strongly considering it--I'm sure to breakdown within the next few hours. If only a few other acmlmers would buy it maybe we could get some kind of badass (original) Doom Deathmatch going on...

that would be nice, though unlikely.... I tried getting people in an old school Doom deathmatch (using Chocolate Doom) here, and it wasn't too successful.

Well, I bought it. Now to begin the slow, slow process of downloading and installing every game.

Not a half-bad deal.

Now to get it before the weekend is over is another story.....

you just need to buy it before the weekend is over, you don't need to download the games at all until later (and "later" can be any time you wish, so long as steam and valve still exist).

Oh ok thanks. I thought you had to download it on the same day.
