hi there, i just did my first step in the world of rom hacking, and i was wondering if you guys on this forums could help me out?
i my self am a huge metroid fan, and iam a big fan of fusion and the prime series. so i want to make a hack (story will be at the end of this post) but hacking is new for me, i have seen some topics here, about double helix, but after fixing one problem with the Comdlg32.ocx, i now got the problem with that it wont load the rom, so thus stopping me to experiment with hacking. if anyone can help me out, then that would be awsome! Rob (idea of my first hack) replacing the metroid dna samples with phazon samples, thus giving samus a darksamus like appearance, instead of the fusion suit. replacing SA-X with sylux (u know what i mean if u finished mp3 100%) so that its like sylux hunting samus. and replacing ridley X and space pirates with meta ridly and phazon pirates. and giving samus new suit styles. (suit 1= phazon suit, suit 2= dark samus mp2, suit 3= dark samus mp3. so its more like a metroid prime 4 than metroid fusion. |

Most of those changes can probably be done by some well thought out palette edits and a nice text rewrite. Yep, i know, but what if we just replace the effects of the ice beam, and make that a weapon wich is in the hack story extra effective against samus new suit, and if iam correct, then that means the sylux character will be using the phazon beam, becouse phazon is the most effective weapon against phazon armors.

Hmmmyeah, that sounds about right... but how difficult do you think replacing the ice beam's effect would be? If Samus would just somehow freeze in place it'd be relatively easy again. hmm correct, but next to that, the phazon beam fits perfectly, and next to that, dont we all love the story aboud samus getting more bad ass by the moment by corruption? XD |

to bad, the prime series is really good, some find it lack the metroid feeling, but i disagree, i played super metroid to, wich is seen as the best, but prime gave me the feeling i could never skip trough a new part of the map, without confronting some new terror, wich in prime 2 and prime 3 mostly dark samus. |

i see, anyway, i still got the problem that i get the message that iam opening a non correct file (the fusion-zm rom), do u know the problem about this? or anybody else? |

Though while this thread still lives, we have every right to think of reasons it might not be working.
What region is your ROM, is it a good dump, and does it have a header? (at least I think gba roms can have headers, dunno) ____________________ we're currently experiencing some technical difficulties |

The fourth character in the code is the game's region: E, J, or U. well i tried both usa and eu rom files, from multiple websites, i dont know much aboud headers, sins thats all new for me :/
