I occasionally go back to this game from time to time, when I was younger I used to play Dr. Robotnik's mean bean machine between playing Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles, but man I used to be so much better at Puyo Puyo, I swear...

I love the games, but in Puyo Puyo 2 I've decided to try the Hard difficulty and man it always seems like at the beginning things are going your way and you're going to win,. Then the com all of a sudden gets a flawless come back and smiles in your face while you realize that a piece of 10+ year old technology just owned you... I get so frustrated some times, but then again the game speeds up earlier in the harder difficulties, but if Hard is just about this impossible to me, I'd hate to see the Hardest difficulty.

I've never really seemed to excel in any puzzle game as of late, I mean I still can't get more than 80 lines in Tetris I think, and in Puyo Puyo I always tend to try and get out of the dud puyos by moving the others all to one side which eventually spells my defeat, but this game is a fun break from platformers and other games. Let's discuss our experiences/frustrations with Puyo Puyo or any of it's clones/American face lifts.

Or... we could just view the topic then not reply...

OK It's been eleven days, and does anyone know anything about Puyo Puyo? I've recently picked up Puyo Puyo Sun and managed to get to Carabuncle, the hidden final stage in Schezo's story mode and holy freaking crap it's fast... Puyo Puyo is an underated series, please tell me I'm not the only one on Board 2 who enjoy's it...

I could post pictures and stuff if you want, the main thing is I thought I'd find more people who like it... but only a lot of views and no replies. How about some videos?

I don't speak a word of Japanese, but that scene always cracks me up!

There are 9 anime shorts about the series, I like them and they're pretty neat if you have some time to kill.

I know the games came out in America as other titles, or more recently Puyo Pop (more like flop because it hardly sold and now SEGA isn't going to bother bringing it to America anymore... D Nintendo has their Puzzle game still coming out in America after all this time (Tetris Attack) and We've seen Puyo Pop and Fever and Tsu on virtual console... that's not a lot =\ We missed out on the really good ones, namely the original and Sun, I haven't played ~n/4 but I want to, I like this series so please tell me I'm not the only one...

Apart from the "Mean bean machine" there was also "Kirby Avalanche". It's kinda amusing now I think on it, since both games actually shared some graphics... and SEGA and Nintendo was competitors back then!

I was honestly never too good with Puyo Puyo. Tetris was the only puzzle game I mastered, although it's skill ceiling is probably lower than Puyo Puyo...

I didn't much care for the American face lift games, but eh... without them I probably never would've played Puyo Puyo to begin with. I recently tried out Nazo Puyo, I like.
