Well I'm (hopefully) getting my ps3 a month from now, and I was just wondering what's the best all around linux distro (for ease of installation, ease of support/setting up, best for performance, etc etc.) I'm thinking of going with a ubuntu distro since that's the only one I've ever used on a real pc (besides PCLinuxOS, which I love, but isn't available in a ppc build.) Side by side comparisons of features would be nice

I can think of no better place to find a side by side comparison of features than Wikipeia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Linux_distributions

Ubuntu's really the only one I've ever used on my own computer. I've used openSUSE in the computer lab at school.

Out of the few PlayStation 3 owners I've actually seen/talked to, the general consensus seems to be that Yellow Dog Linux is the better one of them all...

note that I don't actually own a PS3, so I can't tell weather it's true or not.

I'm not seeing the appeal running Linux on PS3, especially since I allegedly heard that the processing power is bit limited while you're running in the Linux mode.

That might have changed.

The CPU isn't, but you don't have any graphics acceleration because Sony is afraid it will compete with commercial games.

And who doesn't get a PS3 and use it as a normal computer/emulation machine? Practically no one, from what I've seen.
