You heard me.

We've got one for SNES games, we might as well have one to discuss what we personally think of as *the* best computer game. Preferably freeware, but price tags can be worked around in most cases

And we might as well start off with the king of kings, Cave Story. Which is epic. And win. And epwinic. And free.

And for the not-freeware of this post, Portal... unfortunately Portal's mechanics weren't fully exercised. Someone should really smack Valve upside the head and tell them to start thinking.

They apparently had brainstormers, and level designers, but not too many brainstorming level designers.

Anyway, I'd have to go for Unreal Tournament 2004. It's replayablity was insane thanks to user generated content. That game is awesome in my book for that reason.

Cave Story all the way. I got it recently, and I just beat Ballos. (With the machine gun, no less.) Yaaayyy.

AVP2. Even though its game engine isn't very advanced, It's still fun to play.
Also the game engine (Lithtech Talon) is easy to hack.

I don't really have a favorite PC game, but one game I kind of enjoy is Armadillo Run. It's pretty challenging, and it's fun to make stuff in the level editor.

Do you like it or do you like it for the same reason you liked it 2 years ago?

Anyways, Unreal Tournament (the classic one) is the best PC game.

Portal was fine, you ninny, but let me know if you find any level packs that are better for what you think you're talking about.

Anyway, Lyle In Cube Sector is great, but there's a good chance you've heard of it already.

Portal seemed to be more of a test of new game mechanics than seriously investing too much on the said project.

Oh yeah, and from the same Orange box... I would say it's Team Fortress 2. Most people bought Orange Box for Portal, then stay for Team Fortress 2. I would say it's the better game, especially due to the high playability.

Maniac Mansion II: Day of the Tentacle. Best adventure ever. I also had lots of fun with Quake III, the gameplay feels very nice.

Yeah, DOTT rocked in its hilarity.

"Didn't he pass out?" "He was already passed out when it happened."

As a big fan of Tim Schafer's work, I must include also Psychonauts in my list. Some of the levels are absurdly creative.

Most probably... City of Villains.

Edit: Oh. Freeware. This was your excuse for someone to recommend you a game because you're bored. Haha! Well. My answer in that other thread (the sticky one) ought to suffice - An Untitled Story is a good game.
