It seems that whenever someone gets hurt, everyone recalls related and/or the worst injuries they've had. For some reason, the originally injured person feels a little better. That's strange. Wouldn't they usually have crapped their intestines out of fear or something? I mean, I don't get freaked out like the average person, but it still just seems like getting scared is the most logical explanation. I guess the ability to relate to one another with injuries makes it better.

Or maybe the injured person has a big ego and thinks all other injuries are nothing.

I know that seeing descriptions of other people's mental oddities makes me feel better than although I may be insane, I'm not that unusual.

As for physical injuries, I never had blood spraying out of me like in a goth fetish video or anything. But once I did fall off a swing and hit my head and I had amnesia for a bit.

Is this thread about catharsis, and that it has a chain effect?

(Looks up catharsis)

Somewhat along the lines of it, yes.

Unless you're talking about laxidents.

Seeing descriptions of things other people have gone through that are similar to yours can help

Mostly since that way, they can at least realize that it isn't as bad as someone else's or that other people can understand what they're going through, I guess.

(I'm no good with psychobabble. Can you tell?)

Makes it feel less lonely if you hear of others' problems. That and it helps you realize your own injuries might not be so bad.

Its one of those psychological things. Often even common things can be terrifying if you haven't heard about them before.

Also it can become sort of a bragging contest. "I flew off my bike!" "A car hit me!" "The airplane I was on crashed!" "I narrowly dodged a missile!"
