...Aeris dying at the end of disc 1 or the fact that she becomes utterly friggin' worthless and keeps whatever expensive/rare items you may have put on her (Dragon Armlet, Jem Ring. Yes, I am a retard for doing that).

In other news, Jenova-LIFE is a PITA. Guess someone gets to wear a Water Ring and ten pounds of Restore materia.

Anyone else find themselves doing something completely stupid during the course of this fun yet annoyingly hard game?

(In other other news not related to the sentence above, that Demon Gate whatchamacallit killed me twice. Then I proceeded to put the Bahamut summon materia on Aeris... and guess what? I proceeded to win. ggsdsfsdfsdfsdgfjjhljggggg)

lol. Reminds me of what I did in FFIV. I'd spent all of this time leveling up Cecil in his Dark Knight form, and then when he becomes a Paladin, you have to start all over from Level 1. Doesn't pay to level him up so much until he goes through his change.

But if you un-equip all her shit before she leaves for good, then she's absolutely worthless sans Healing Wind during the fight against Demon Gate.

EDIT: You are a ass for removing what I was replying to.

But she is already absolutely worthless. We are just talking about getting through one more battle with absolutely worthlessness.

Sorry about that edit. I overlooked that you said "I am a retard for doing that"

No, Aeris is not worthless.

I just never bothered to use that bastard, and when the time came that she forced her way into the party, she became the toughest thing since fried jerky because I had no choice.

I mean Aeris isn't worthless, but you can survive without using her. The first time I played through that game I only really used her when when I didn't have a choice, besides one of Yuffie's Limit Breaks is a healing one, so you aren't totally left with your thumb up your ass.

As far as healing goes though, once I get to the point of the game where I find it, normally I just get the W-Item materia and then duplicate a bunch of Megalixers and various status changing items that way anyone can do the healing.

Not saying I don't agree though, losing everything she had equipped is kind of a pain in the ass, you run the risk of losing some very nice stuff because of that.

As far as Chocobo breeding goes, I never really had the patience for it. I've never done a play through of the game with Knights of the Round unless I cheated somehow.

Hm. I managed to get one of those huge materias with the help of a little glitch/bug/whatever. I landed the ship on a certain cliff.

but

butbutbutbut

I never USE yuffie

Traps: No, you're pretty much thinking of Quadra Magic, which isn't a huge materia at all seeing as how it's in a cave, not a reactor.

edit: retarded quote screwup

I started a game years ago to level up a ton. I think I was level 20 before leaving Midgar with all of Cloud's limit breaks besides the level 4 one. Currently, I believe I'm at 55 near the end of the 1st disc.

I had Cloud, Tifa and Barret at level 9 by the time I hit Jenovah + Sephiroth. (Disc 4)

I guess that isn't a stupid thing, but eh, it was very tiresome to get through the game like that. I had to keep buying protection items and healing item, and had to have everyone with mastered barrier, mbarrier and a ton of mastered MP up and HP up (which I used yuffie at level 96 to get up) :/

Something stupid I've done is probably neglect the summon materia (except Knights of the round Table, I needed that for disc 4). I never really needed to use them because I mostly used bio + magic on bosses and break on the majority of monsters.

Level 9 is kinda impossible at that point and there is no Disc 4.

:V

In other news, wtf. Ultimate WEAPON is weak.

This FF7 isn't International. I only get to party with Emerald, apparently.

I play the PC version, so I don't know how many discs there are, just guessed (From final fantasy VIII and IX)

It's not impossible, actually, the HP ups give all 3 of the characters 9999 HP, Master Barrier and Magic Barrier and limit breaks is all you need. (Knights of the round table is also extremely useful) Which makes the game play insanely longer if you have to wait for limit breaks to kill things.

Ultimate weapon was easy, but it's cake walk compared to emerald (I've never killed Ruby, so I can't base it off of that, but I assume the same)

Emerald can be killed with bio and just x-slicing it between turns, and Ruby is easy to survive with regen on your best attacker (kill all but your character, since it blows them away)
