Miser's House (Anthology Project)

new version released http://mediaplague.com/miser/

This is an old Commodore PET text adventure game I am remaking.

Don't use CMD to run it; use MS-DOS or DOSBOX.

Why the hell isn't there a generic retro-gaming development board?

Anyways, "MH16.ZIP" is Miser's House version 0x16. (Yes, hexidecimal.)

Other Miser games to be in this anthology set are Miser's Island and Miser's Castle, along with an original game i plan to add called Miser's Time Portal or something like that.

I am still hunting down "Miser's Castle", which was never officially known under that name.

I do however plan to start work on remaking Miser's Island once the remake for Miser's House is complete.

MH16 is fully playable, I think.

The series is just old text adventure, Zork style.

Have fun playing.

I got rid of the flickering and added a game clock and turn counter.

To my knowledge, there just isn't a big enough attraction to this sort of thing...

You'd probably be the only one posting in it...

Same reason we don't have a forum for gardening.

Pretty cool. I've had the urge to make both a text adventure and a treasure-hunting game lately, and it never once crossed my mind to combine them into one project. I'll have to give this a more thorough play-through and let you know my thoughts.

Last year I started remaking an old QBASIC text adventure game I'd made as a kid... time to finally finish or start over from scratch, I think.

Either way, the point is: long live text-based games!
