Yeah, I covered L'Hostpital's rule.
Really, how bad is learning series stuffs, timewise?
My BC teacher absolutely hated it when we put an "s" in "L'Hopital".

Did he also insist on a circumflex on the o?

I tend to go into a flying rage when people forget the umlaut in über.

When writing foreign words, I try not to leave diacritics off at all, especially when romanizing Japanese or writing in German. (Shōjo, not shojo, for example.)

SamuraiX: series stuff is not really that time consuming, imo. Pick up the BC testing guide that is made by the actual AP testing company. They look like plain workbooks, and you won't likely find them in a Barnes and Noble, or what have you. You'll have to order them. Hell, order the AB and the BC, as it will provide additional practice even if you don't end up taking the BC. Your teacher can likely procure these for you, my teacher even got them for us for free somehow. As far as I can tell, they were the best study guides for the AP exam. Ones made by outside companies tended to have more typos, and have less relevant material.

Though, I'll have to be honest, BC might not be worth it if you don't expect to have to take Calculus II as a class in college. Physics, Medical sciences, and a few others require it (Math obviously), but I'm not sure on the particulars.

Taylor Series basically is this:

you take a function f(x). Provided certain conditions, like f(x) being infinitely differentiable ( in other words, you can take (n) derivatives of f(x) and the result will still be differentiable.) you can express f(x) as a polynomial series. e.g. sin(x) near the x-value x = 0. The Taylor series at that point is:

sin(x) = x - (x^3)/3! + (x^5)/5! - ... + ((-1)^(2n-1)x^(2n-1))/(2n-1)!

how do you get that? Taylor Series is:

f(x) (near x = 0) = f(0) + f'(0)x + (f''(0)x^2)(2!) + ... + (f(n)(0)x^n)/n!

This is actually how a calculator calculates the values of the sine function, and the cosine functione, etc. Since the series is always finite, you need a certain number of terms to achieve a certain amount of accuracy. That's the more complicated stuff though.

In any case, you can always look at the guides and try to work some of the problems. If you find that you cannot absorb the material, then you should probably just stick with AB.

...if anything, I like the Canadian high school system because you're just doing 5 years and then you're off to college and then university. No extra classes/tests to do and no consequences regarding college.

I should be taking goddamn Precalc next year, but nooooo, I need to take Geometry and not double up on Algebra 2.

Except getting in, which I suppose is a far more sensible process there, as it's not run by lollage-board.

This thread is too American. We don't do that funky AP stuff in Canada!

I was pretty sure they had AP testing in Canada, but I could have been mistaken.

Sure we do. Just not as much, from the looks of things. My high school only offered AP english. I was in it for a while, but I ended up hating it for reasons I won't go into, so I went back to the regular stream, which I hated slightly less. I don't regret it at all... my first-year university course was the first time I can say I actually enjoyed an English class, and I got a lot more out of it than I did from either form of high school English.

I didn't even know what AP meant until very recently.

Note to self: Princeton Review sucks. If the multiple choice is as easy as it is in that book, and if the free response is as easy as it has been in the past, why on earth do so few people get 5s on Physics C? The level of calculus on the test is low enough, and the material isn't that bad at all. And they claim that 75% correct on the test is a 5. What nonsense is this? That seems like one messed-up curve to me.

$93 huh? It's only $83 here in California. 8)

It's only $83 in Maryland too.

Sophomore (this year):
AP US History

Junior (next year):
AP Statistics

Those are probably all the AP courses I'm going to take in high school. Though I could take so many more, I don't like that amount of free time it takes away. Yes, it's good for college, but I have other talents that will get me in.
