Did anyone else notice that it's getting more expensive? (7*$92=$644. )
Aside from that, is anyone else taking any AP tests?
Me:
-Microeconomics
-Macroeconomics
-Calculus AB
-Physics C: EM&K
-Japanese Language
-English Literature
-Psychology
Yucky stuff, isn't it?

Yea, if I went to school.

Or went to a school that offered AP.

Or was in the really really really REALLY upper upper middle class, sure.

As it stands, two jobs give me enough headaches against...autocars.

It's all about studying, and avoiding paying money in college.

I'm in college now, so I'm not taking any more, but here are the ones I took:

Sophomore year:
- Modern European History (3)

Junior year:
- English Language and Composition (3)
- US History (3)
- Comparative Governments (4)
- Computer Science A (5)

Senior year:
- Physics C: Mechanics (5)
- Physics C: EM&K (4)
- Computer Science AB (5)
- Calculus BC (5)
- English Literature (3)

They cost a lot, but skipping an entire semester of college more than makes up for it. Best of luck!

Ultimately, I suppose that I'd be learning more in a college class, but who am I to judge?
As for AP classes I've taken
-English Language (4)
-Chemistry (3) (I blame the confusing free-response structure for my lack of 4-5)
I'd take the U.S. History, Comparative Government, and Statistics AP tests, but I've already taken the courses at college.

Yeah, you definately learn more at the college versions of the classes, but the trick is that you learn more in higher-level college courses than you do in the earlier ones. Skipping entire semesters of college means you get to start with the good stuff.

(Mind you, I'm in my second semester and half my courses at senior-level difficulty, and it's really starting to occur to me that I may be pushing it a bit hard)

Forget AP, I just did Highschool in 2 years instead of 4 and went for Junior College. I get my scholarship, and likely will get one to the next place I go to too... heh heh heh.

Highschool seems best skipped or done quickly. You can do so much more in Junior College.

What's junior college? And don't you mean, "I got my scholarship"?

Don't be a pussy. Take the BC Calculus exam. It's not just about not paying for college, it's proving how much you kick ass.

The lowest score I got was a 2 out of all the ones I took, and that was French Language (not lit) AP. Man that test was a BITCH. I mean a BITCH.

Four years ago I got:
English Composition: 5
Chemistry: 4
French Lang.: 2
BC Calculus: 5

I don't think I took any others. I could have taken AP US History b/c i was in the class, but I didn't see the point of taking the test. Not an interesting subject to me, and I don't think it would have earned me any credit anyways. Chemistry and Calculus BC netted me 8 credit hours each for my scores. It was a sweet deal .

I took the AP Java exam but never ot anything from it, I didn't even get the results back. My school sucked, there were only like 3 available AP tests total.

I got a 5 on both the US History and the BC exam last year. I'm taking a physics one this year (not quite sure which one). And if you do well on the exams, the $90 or so is well worth it if you don't have to take the class and pay for it in college.

Posted by Collegeboard BC Criteria that I haven't covered in class

+ Analysis of planar curves given in parametric form, polar form, and vector form, including velocity and acceleration.

# + Numerical solution of differential equations using Euler's method.
# + L'Hôpital's Rule, including its use in determining limits and convergence of improper integrals and series.

+ Solving logistic differential equations and using them in modeling.

IV. *Polynomial Approximations and Series
A. *Concept of Series

A series is defined as a sequence of partial sums, and convergence is defined in terms of the limit of the sequence of partial sums. Technology can be used to explore convergence or divergence.
B. *Series of constants

* + Motivating examples, including decimal expansion.
* + Geometric series with applications.
* + The harmonic series.
* + Alternating series with error bound.
* + Terms of series as areas of rectangles and their relationship to improper integrals, including the integral test and its use in testing the convergence of p-series.
* + The ratio test for convergence and divergence.
* + Comparing series to test for convergence or divergence.

C. *Taylor Series

* + Taylor polynomial approximation with graphical demonstration of convergence. (For example, viewing graphs of various Taylor polynomials of the sine function approximating the sine curve.)
* + Maclaurin series and the general Taylor series centered at x = a.
* + Maclaurin series for the functions ex, sin x, cos x, and 1/(1-x).
* + Formal manipulation of Taylor series and shortcuts to computing Taylor series, including substitution, differentiation, antidifferentiation, and the formation of new series from known series.
* + Functions defined by power series.
* + Radius and interval of convergence of power series.
* + Lagrange error bound for Taylor polynomials.

It looks like a big difference from AB, and with about two months, and 6 other AP classes, I don't think that it would be a good idea. Unless of course, it's not such a big difference, and doesn't take nearly as long as it looks.

My school is fail.

The only APs available to us are AP English, AP Algebra and AP Spanish. They're free though, if you apply to all of them like I have. If I ace them all (and I will), I'll end up taking Composition, Precalc and Spanish Literature (basically a year of Don Quixote). If I pass, I get to skip an entire year of this in college. Fun stuff

Scores:
AP English- pending*
AP Spanish- pending*
AP Algebra- pending*

*projected: 4-5, 4, 5 respectively.

The BC boils down to this...

most of the additional material is on series and convergence of series. L'hopital's rule is something I'd think you would have already covered anyway. Euler's method must have been added in the time since I took the test. But it's not extremely hard to understand anyway. I would say the hardest part of BC is figuring out how to find an interval or radius of convergence. The other stuff is relatively simple. Velocity? 1st Derivative. Acceleration? 2nd Derivative. (of a paremetric curve anyway).

The more obscure material is on curvature and stuff in 3 dimensions but it boils down to memorizing formulas.

Yeah, I covered L'Hostpital's rule.
Really, how bad is learning series stuffs, timewise?

My BC teacher absolutely hated it when we put an "s" in "L'Hopital".
