Ok, well in all seriousness is it possible? I know the general consensus believes otherwise but I suppose it's not up to them but the current staff.

And look seriously. I might get heated about religion, but I do believe in being just. I'd at least stick to adherence of the rules, nothing more. It is no big loss to me if I'm not.

Ask and thou shalt receive.

I tried that once and it didn't work.

15, years later I still have not received a Red Ryder BB gun under the Christmas tree. I've given up hope by now

With the board's lower-than-before activity I really don't think that this place needs more staff members as of now...

No the solution is to make everyone a staff member with full admin powers. It'll be a riot!

Most active based on.. what? Most active in the past hour? Day? Week? Month?

That list is changing constantly and thus is impossible to use as criteria in such a scenario.

I think he means the ten top posters.

In all seriousness, postcount is not a good way to determine staff members...

Is this still even a problem? The activity is so low it seems like two or three people could manage the board without much bother.

The problem was no staff ever being on, at all. The staff are generally online now, some of the time at least...

When a simple, low-impact change can't be done because the staff member you ask would rather get a second staffer's opinion before he does it while he's the only staff member around, something's wrong.

Kawa> BH (or Ailure, doesn't matter) came up with a certain system that's unfortunately broken by design.
Kawa> I can imagine why the system's there, though.
Kawa> It just doesn't scale down well.
Kawa> Which is crazy, cos most systems don't scale -up-.
NightKev>
Kawa> But yeah.
Kawa> Asking for the other guys opinion before doing simple, minor things like beating obvious-as-hell trolls doesn't work.
Kawa> Regardless of the other guy being there to answer.
NightKev> it should be "action first, discussion later"
NightKev> that would probably work quite well
Kawa> Well, at least for the small things.
Kawa> Larger things are what the system's best for.
NightKev> mhm
Kawa> Like, banning an oldbie that fell to the Dark Side.
NightKev> lol
Kawa> Or closing/trashing a popular thread for some reason.

Example scenario!
* X registers and posts some okay content.
* Suddenly, X trolls. It's just a single post right now but it's a whopper.
* System-adhering admin thinks he should stop X right there and clean up, but instead wants to ask another system-adhering admin for his opinion before actually acting.
* System-adhering admin has to wait for the other one to actually show up.
* X gets the time to make a bigger mess and takes it.
* Community gets angry at X -and- the admins.
* When finally approved, admin(s) have somewhat more work to do than they would otherwise when it was just a single post.

Alternatively...
* Non-adhering admin thinks he should stop X right there and clean up, and does so within a few minutes.
* Community is happy.
* Other, system-adhering admins brand him a rogue, but life goes on anyway.

Really? I thought it was more like this....

Step One: X Starts Useless Thread
Step Two: Thread gets useless discussion.
Step Three: Thread gets closed.
Step Four: Thread gets opened again one month later.
Step Five: See Step Two.

My point of view, really.

Although, it doesn't always happen.

Yeah good point.

No really useful threads.

Although, if they weren't useful in some way, they'd end up deleted.
